    Does it really matter, what kind you have?

    Yes, it does. The Japanese pencil version is the only suitable one for an authentic Dr. KT.

    The American pen Dr. Grip weighs less than the correct version. The American pencil Dr. Grip has a smaller "lip" at the base of the tip, so it will not fit correctly on Keityo sign pen caps. Also, the grips are different than the Japanese pencil version.

    However, I have found that the American Dr. Grip pencil is perfect for the Dr. ST.

    Actually it really doesn't matter. It's just that japanese Dr. Grip tips are smaller and more compact so they weight more. The american Dr. Grip tips are bigger and weigh a bit less. If you wanna make a Dr. KT with american tips it'll work, but there might be a little more hassle getting the tips on.
