General Discussion / Penspinners List

I think we should have a wiki page or something on penspinners from all over the world
on wiki there are only notable and famous ones. not necessarily all the spinners that are acknowledged
I just think it'd be nice if we have a list of penspinners in one page
probably not all of them, just notable ones from all the boards -

Uhh... do you realize exactly what you're inferring we should do?
What kind of filtering process would be used to pick which spinners to profile?
And if it was a fairly big filter, we would still be left with Hundreds of spinners, and attaining and organzing information from each spinner would take AGES!
This type of idea is WAYY too subjective as to the exact spinners that everyone would want to know about, and there just really isnt enough established resources to communicate easilyand effectively between different boards/spinners.
If you really want to know something about a specific spinner, you should take the initiative to track them down. -

no. just names
for references
not profiles
and i guess i mean the ones in collabs frequently and those who are well-known if not famous worldwide -

We've made maps before for spinners to go post their locations and stuff. I forgot where it is though.

ahh yes, that's what I meant. I guess that's close to the list idea. -

That sounds pretty cool. It'd be like collectable cards with stats of each popular pen spinner.

What?!
That has nothing to do with anything!
Backtotopic->
Even with the whole list thing, you'd have to have an odd filtering process, and many good recognizable spinners arent always in alot of collabs. Its a very subjective thing to pick which spinners should be part of a "famous" list. -

it would be really hard to do but its a cool idea. maybe we could get each person to write a small blurb about themselves.

wow youre just acting like zombo
stop overanalyzing things and be optimistic
its just an idea not the final draft of a massive project
anyway, ya... we should get some info about the spinners from the "messengers" of the forums who can speak english
joshy whitefang(if hes still active) and i can get some stuff about kpsa ppl for sure -

agreed, it's not that hard to do this, we are not picking people to play in the world tournament, we are just making a list. It's impossible to set an exact filter, but why do we need a filter anyway? Someone from each organization can just give a list, maybe a brief summary of what he/she did, like in PSH we already have a PS hall of fame thing. But only for PSH people -

I also think their has to be an ongoing filter, some of the influential people are no longer active and can't be contacted.
I think the map idea failed because many of the people there have moved, or stopped spinning.
There should also be a cut off for activity, with archives of a sort if you want to find an older spinner. Sort of like who's here now.
We already have a spot for "legends" and famous spinners like Bonkura, it would be redundant to make another list and include a bunch of inactive folk, The list would have to be purged once or twice a year to add new names, remove names etc... A massive undertaking considering how many people would have to be contacted and the large scale of the list =\ I don't know anyone who has that kind of spare time.
But if you're really thinking about making one I think you should just go ahead with it and let the community judge it. -

i dont get it, you say the wiki only contains notable pen spinners, then you say we should list notable pen spinners???
so basically the wiki is already doing what you want, just missing content. -

ehhhh i didnt mean the same thing
wiki lacks in content
but no one is actually editing the wiki anyway
so this will hopefully suffice the lacking content of wiki if we decide to take initiative -

I'm sure if we can get this idea posted on every board, we can come up with something good.
I'd be willing to cover UPSB's spinners. Although I'm not sure who to filter out and such. -

Sj, anyone can edit the wiki, you should take on the endeavor...
Whose going to take initiative if no ones editing the wiki in the first place? -
Date: Sun, May 10 2009 21:51:22
lol ok i shall
i will cover kpsa spinners
itd be nice if whitefang and joshy would do it too
ill tell em
