Pen Modifications / An eraser is not an effective way to remove RSVP writing

I don't know why this advice is constantly given. Maybe it's just me, but every kind of eraser I've used to try to clear an RSVP barrel, it hasn't left a single smudge. I just used some acetone; wiped it right off. Scratched the pen a bit, though. Anyway, I know everyone says to use an eraser, but has anyone ever actually done it, and successfully? I don't see how it can possibly work. I've even been doing it on the silver writing, which is allegedly "easier" to remove. If that's considered easy, I wonder what the gold must be like...

I have gold RSVPs, and i have been able to remove the writing with an eraser...
I don't know if it matters but i use a Pentel clic eraser.
Just rub the writing as hard as you can and it will eventually come off happy.gif

I've done it with almost every RSVP mod I own. Works fine for me.

Try using hard, low quality erasers. They tend to work better.

I usually put a tiny bit of nail polish removed on it and then quickly rinse it off with water.
I erase the letters one at a time. It takes a lot of effort xD Good luck.

You have to make the barrel wet, then erase it. I don't think it will work if it's dry.

I've also noticed that the crappy erasers work a ton better,

    Here's some actual advice.

An eraser is an eraser. RSVP writing comes off due to scratches and friction.

Friction caused by an eraser essentially causes the RSVP writing to rub off.

Another solution is to use acetone. Many prefer using an eraser.

    Good Luck.

Really? In my past experiences, the Papermate Pink Pearls work like a charm, while no name erasers completely fell apart for me leaving one or two of the letters in the RSVP logo.

Every RSVP mod i make, the writing comes right off if you just rub it hard enough.

Yeah... i have this like dedicated eraser for erasing the text =P it has this little hole formed from rubbing it.

what erases the text i think is the friction/heat produced from rubbing it. acetone works, obviously, cuz the acetone dissolves the paint =P but an eco-friendly way would be normal rubber erasers.

apparently gold text is harder to erase than silver text.

Sometimes i get that smudge too. After like a couple of minutes tho I just wipe it off and the Rsvp is perfect.

    It's really easy 0 _ o
    xD A LOT EASIER
than removing say, cartoon comssa barrel colors...

I cud remove silver writing with my thumb > _ < gold is a bit tough but is still really easy...

The eraser is an effective way to remove the RSVP logo on the barrel. Although the silver writing is easier to get off, the gold ones do also. Just takes effort and time tongue.gif

It's constantly mentioned because it works.

    Try rubbing harder.

Many people have done it successfully countless times. Someone make a video? LOL

    They mean,

RUB IT HARDER AND FASTER! smile.gif

Because if you do, it creates more friction, and the heat created by the friction just rubs it off!

But you have to do it for 2 minutes straight?

Yea i think you should you an eraser because i accidentally spilled too much acetone on my rsvp barrel and now there's alot of white smudges on it. Idk if i should replace it or if there is a way to remove all these smudges. Anyone got any ideas?

u dont necessarily need to use an eraser
the writing comes off by friction
    but erasers are more effective

and the writing should come off
if it doesnt, it means you're doing something wrong :/

    well.
if you have the gold writing(med. point) its hard.
if you have the silver writing(fine point) then it just comes right off

Hm. Well, I finally got it to work. I used a gum eraser from Verizon, so I could move it fast while pushing hard. Is it supposed to come off right away, though? Because even while doing that, it took a good few minutes or so of rubbing to get it all off.

Not right away.. definately not with one stroke.

Should be pretty fast, almost negligible to time taken modding it.
