Serious Discussion / Piercings or Tattoos

Do any of you have a piercing or a tattoo?
Im planning on getting "Snakebites" on my lip later this year and i will probably end up with a few tattoos eventually.

My question though mainly revolves around the stigma associated with body art or modifications. Mainly do you think less of someone who has a tattoo or piercings? Would it detere you from giving the person a job over someone who wasnt pierced or tattooed? Do you think that is fair? and do you believe that just because a person has done something like that, should they be instantly branded or placed in a stereotype which they dont actually below simply because of a material thing?

i wont be a problem if you can't see it

some employers might prejudice against you if you had tats/peircings
i'm against that, but thats how it is
probably it will be a bigger problem in retail/interacting-with-people-type jobs seeing as you are a representative of the company/brand

Depends on the modification, if you're doing the current fad body modification then I'd immediately think you're a complete twat. If its something different and extreme, I'll give you a big smile and nod my head towards ya.

I get/have piercings and tattoos because I personally like the look of them. It's as simple as that, I'm not a sheep.

    Have:

Left ear lobe (stretched to 10mm)
    Snakebites
    Tongue

    Had:

    Vertical labret (center of lip)
    Industrial
    Top ear cartilage
    Underneath tongue (webbing)

    Tattoos:

Well, next year when I'm 18 I plan getting some tribal around my left chest and down my left arm.

also, if it means something to you than its (more) acceptable
like my friend is going to get his tribe (originally from papua new guinea) tatoos

Over here, it's harder for you to get a job if you have tatoos flowing down your arm and it isn't covered. As long as they don't see it is it's fine.

For me, if they're really extreme, I would think they're part of a gang or something unless I know how they are like myself. Milder ones I think it's just a form of expression. I don't mind being in a room with people with tatoos as long as I know they're nice people. My teacher has a tatoo but i still think she teaches well.

Its a lip piercing im going to get... so pretty much the only way to stop people from seeing it is those funny clear plastic retainers or whatever they are called to stop it closing up while its out? or something like that...

Were the snakebites that bad? pain wise? cause ive heard lip piercings are one of the least painful and as much as i like to think im a man... im a sissy on the inside
oh and did you get a numbing cream or something like that? or take it like a man?

    @Sidewinder:

The good thing about lip piercings is that it is possible to have them in and keep them in untill someone (a boss/a teacher at school) walks past or something. I do it at school all the time. You take the end spike/ball off the piercing so it can slide in and out of your lip, and with a bit of tongue practice your able to use your teeth & tongue to suck your piercing in when someone comes past, and then put it back in when they go smile.gif I would only suggest doing this ONCE ITS HEALED, doing it prior will screw your piercing up and make your lip sore. I've had my lip piercings for 3 years and I've only been caught by a teacher once, because of delayed reaction time haha.

They weren't to painful, like all piercings it's a small "prick" of pain for 2 seconds and then its done! It's one of them things where you go "wow... that was easy, I so could do it again". This also depends on your piercer also.

I didn't get the numbing cream, and personally I wouldn't want it, I wouldnt know if I was in pain or not so I wouldn't be able to answer the piercer if they ask me "you feeling okay? does it feel alright?"

Im allowed to have piercings at my school so thats not really a problem, i was thinking more in the future with possible emplyment opportunities and stuff like that...

But yeah i never thought about the numbing cream thing in that way before so i might end up taking it like a man after all, Thanks for that.

I wont probably get it for another few months but yeah wish me luck smile.gif

I have both my ears peirced and I peirced my lip myself but took it out and let it heal, I've also given myself tribal tatoo bands on my thighs and I'm in the process of stretching my ears. I also tried to Peirce my cock once... Don't try that. It hurts.

To be honest, I never found piercings to be either cool or attractive (on girls, though I don't think it looks good on boys as well). I can't really explain why, but they just don't look good in my opinion.
Tattoos can be nice, as long as they aren't overly used (too much tattoos= I also don't find good looking)

    Just my personal opinion.
