Regular Pen Discussion / RSVP pens leaking?
-
Date: Sat, May 16 2009 01:43:10
Yeah, so basically I had like a whole pack of RSVP pens. Each time I use one, I spin it for like 5 minutes and it leaks.
Any way to prevent this from happening? -

Thats never happened to me before.
then again i hardly spin my rsvps.
hmm.. take the inktube out whenever u spin it? -

Then it wouldn't have the proper weight and momentum, i tried before and it doesn't spin the same.
This might cause problems for when I make my RSVP MX
Anyone else have this problem? -

Well, the ink doesn't exactly leak, but when i write with my MX, it bleeds alot. I dont know if thats your problem?

the rsvp works perfectly fine unmodded,
its just when i reverse the inktube
, the ink explodes everywhere -
Date: Wed, May 20 2009 00:32:01
Um... it happens a lot. It starts bleeding after you spin it.
Same with my G3. -

is there a way to prevent this?
ive heard stuffing toothpicks/tissue into the ends work, but it just leaks over it for me =O -

I'll try using teflon tape to seal the end of the ink barrel.

I bought a RSVp today to make a HS MX, but when I came home, I found the pen leaking with red, and half of the body is too
-
Date: Sat, May 23 2009 14:55:44
This happened to me once. Just once. With my first MX. I got so freaking pissed.
-
Date: Sun, May 24 2009 13:15:05
didn't happen to me at all... can you empty the inktube? (defeats the purpose of writing )
-
Date: Mon, May 25 2009 15:16:33
That would throw off the weight right?
-
Date: Mon, May 25 2009 16:12:51
Uh; this hasn't ever happened to me, because all the RSVP's I buy have a little white plastic thing shoved into the back of the inktube.
However, if yours is lacking that, you could take a hot glue gun and drop a tiny drop of glue over the hole. -
Date: Mon, May 25 2009 16:34:22
you could consider putting the tinyest amount of blu-tak in the end of the tube to stop it leaking....only problem is even a small bit of blu-tak may mess up the weight distribution
you could try it and see how it spins... -
Date: Mon, May 25 2009 16:42:06
You guys obviously have no idea what weight distribution really means.
The problem with putting glue or hot glue or sticky tak or blu tak on the end of the inktube is that it prevents oxygen from getting into the inktube. As a result, after a while, the pen will be no longer able to write. -

you did reverserd the inkt tube right?

Agree, it happened to me before. When the ink started to leak i just put a little drop of glue at the end of the inktube...and it was no longer to write lol.
But when i've bought pens, sometimes inktubes have a little plastic piece that prevents leaking, but it doesn't dry the inktube. I really don't know how they work :/
EDIT: Writing mistake -

thoese are probably GEL pens,
i just take out the whole inktube since i dont need tyo write anyways >_> -

Never Happened to me.. Prolly puting the inktube away when you spin?Or try to spin on soft sufaces(EX:Bed?)LOL Just so drops won't be that strong.

most of the time it doesn't leak from the back, it leaks from the front, where the metal nib sticks in. the back is sealed with that transparent gluey stuff so you should seal the front.

this has happened to me once.
it was with an mx that i was spinning.
i think the problem was when i put the grip in the cap, the inktube might have had some pressure put onto it.
has this happened to anyone else? it made a huge mess.. -

that's never happened to me but i have seen tons of like rip off versions of rsvps would u happen to have one of those -

does this also happen to Sunbursts?
-
Date: Sat, Jan 9 2010 22:08:52
I'm pretty sure that you would have to stuff the inktube with some paper towel to prevent it from leaking.

From the way I see it, as long as there is a certain amount of pressure, any inktube can leak/explode. -
Date: Sun, Jan 10 2010 05:18:13
sunbursts use a gel ink
gel ink always leaks (from the back)
the glue thing that stops the ink from leaking (when held upright etc) will start to leak, and causes the ink to leak out
learnt this the hard way, wondering why the hell i have light green streaks across my white shirt and carpet -
Date: Sun, Jan 10 2010 15:02:17
that never happened to me but if it did then id clean the ink tubes or just tape them
-

Hmm, this has never happened to me, and RSVPs are pretty much the only pens I spin in public.
Interesting.
I always though RSVP ink was the type that didn't leak, which was why I liked it. I sometimes spin signos, but you have to leave the cap on or one drop and the ink is all over you.
RSVPs are nothing like that, which is why I like them.
My MX's have never leaked either.
