What do you do?

I don't know about you guys but have you ever been walking around in public and just suddenly had an urge? .....to spin a pen?

Well I certainly have, however when you're standing up to me it feels like there's this invisible pressure increasing the tension in all my tricks. Like 'omfg if I drop this I'm going to look like a tool.' or something similar along those lines.

What do y'all as pen spinners do when this situations occurs? Do you continue practicing that hard trick you were trying to get last night and risk the embarrassing drop or do you just nervously stick with the fundamental and easy tricks you've already got mastered?

yea... how much time do you spend practicing while walking anyway...

it's not worth it, you won't really be able to practice correctly cuz you'll always be scared of dropping it, plus you won't be able to look where you're going.

Lol, but zombo. The way you worded that seemingly implies that you are unable to perform even simple tricks without looking at your hand? Sure skilled pen spinners should be able to at least be able to do all the fundamentals (save TA) while walking around without much nervousness.

Hopefully your response was accidentally misleading because I think it would be weird if other skilled pen spinners can't even do moves without watching their hand. I mean, I'm almost always spinning a pen whenever I'm stationary in a warm place. Even when I eat/drink/read/think/relax I almost always have a pen in my hand and about half the time I'm not even looking! biggrin.gif

No I said that to practicing hard tricks,

you should do easy tricks becuase you dont have to look at your hand.

I practice my reverse finger pass and reverse charge 34 sometimes -- they need work.

Spamming one trick is okay, but a combo is too risky. It's boring spamming fundies.

I practice easy tricks because I can do all the fundamentals without looking at my hand. My most popular tricks for when walking are TA, fingerpass, sonic, backaround, or a sonic -> Backaround combo. I only ever practice difficult tricks when in either physics or biology because we have massive counter-top like lab benches that are great, the pen can't fall off. Even in math I don't do too difficult stuff because the desks are small and it tends to drop allot.

I'll usually just stick with tricks I know (tricks that I hardly drop my pen while doing) like TA Harmonic, Fingerpass, etc., while standing.

Sitting down, I'll pretty much practice everything. The desks at my school are fairly big, so my pens don't hit the floor very often.

Last year, I loved practicing in my chem. class. Huge table-like desks = less dropping on the floor. Although it was still fairly loud when it hit the table.

If I feel like spinning in public, than I will. I drop my pen a lot anyway, so I'm used to people seeing me drop it, I don't care. I just spin whatever comes to mind, which are usually not any new tricks that I was recently working on.

Normally, i will start practicing outside whenever i get the chance to sit down.
I don't care how ppl look at me when i keep dropping my pen. If they start commenting in front of me, just ask them to... GO AWAY!!!

But when I am standing or walking, if I urge to spin my pen, I will normally do sonic rise fall harmonic or infinities, cos I don't like my pen keep dropping when I am walking or standing.

The main problem of spinning while standing imo is that your hand is actually in different position from what you are used to while spinning in school/work on chairs. For example yesterday my friend ringed here, he wanted me to show him one trick and I just had to sit on the stairs to do it.

biggrin.gif I was just wondering if I someone misread a post again. tongue.gif

When standing, I tend to do Double Charge an Fingerpass more than anything. Mainly just because the pen is held securely at all times doing these combos. I don't do too many arounds besides Thumbaround Normal & Reverse. Shadows are done easily enough standing without fear of dropping.
