    Starting Guide to Pen-spinning mods:
    ===========================================================

    • The one thing to know is that there is no pen which is better than another purely based on statistics and opinion.
    • Each person eventually will find a pen which will suit them individually.

    -----------------------------

    Now with that out of the way, the first you need to ask yourself is...

    (1) What tricks are you trying to learn?

    - Fundamentals?(goto 2A)
    • Thumb around
    • Charge
    • Sonic
    • Fingerpass

    - Advanced? (goto 2B)
    • Twisted sonic
    • (reverse fundamentals)
    • Arounds
    • etc.

    -----------------------------
    (2A)

    When your first learning tricks the common misconception is that you NEED a modded pen to advance. It's all a matter of weighing in what your personal preference is.

    What also needs to be known is that most new-comers to pen-spinning make a common mistake. They think the heavier the better. Not True. A heavy pen certainly seems appetizing at first, but it really is not the right way to start.

    When starting to learn tricks the fingers need to be taught how to move first. Heavier pens generally involve less force to move (momentum-wise), thus giving the fingers less movement intially. Also something to be known, a heavier pen at first can strain the fingers making it difficult to practice. That's why when learning your first tricks a lighter pen is generally needed.

    A light pen allows the fingers to learn the initial movements to the fullest extent without straining the fingers too much. This is not to say heavy pens are bad; simply lighter pens should be used to get the fundamental tricks down.

    The most common first mods that should be used are as follows

    • Pencil (self explanitory)
    • Bictory
    • RSVP MX
    • Comssa or Metallic Comssa

    Now the preference is up to you entirely. Here is a simple pros/cons list:

    Bictory
    http://www.upsb.info/wiki/index.php/BICtory

    ========================
    Pros
    ========================

    Cheap
    Easy to make
    Commonly found parts

    ========================
    Cons
    ========================
    Thinner barrel
    Not as Aesthetically Flashy

    RSVP MX
    http://www.upsb.info/wiki/index.php/RSVP_MX

    ========================
    Pros
    ========================

    Customizable
    Longer
    More momentum than a bictory
    Has many Variations
    Cheap

    ========================
    Cons
    ========================

    HGG (hybrid gel grip) are not found in all countries
    The Balance isn't Center based

    Comssa/Comssa metallic
    Comssa: http://www.upsb.info/wiki/index.php/Comssa
    Comssa Metallic: http://www.upsb.info/wiki/index.php/Comssa...Comssa_Metallic

    ========================
    Pros
    ========================

    Longer
    Easy to make
    Uses a softbody
    has more momentum than an MX
    Double Sided

    ========================
    Cons
    ========================

    bit more Expensive
    Dong-a sign pens are not found in all countries

    -----------------------------

    Each one of these pens has its own unique features, but the preference is
    entirely up to you. That'll be up to you to decide.

    Some more of the advanced spinners end up using these pens exclusively
    purely based on their personal comfort. They are just as good as any other
    mod.

    -----------------------------

    (2B)

    Now, Once you've gotten down the fundamentals you may ask yourself if there's a better pen I should be using. It's all personal preference, the thing to keep in mind, is that the pen is only as good as the spinner. Many people choose to simply stick with lighter mods if they're comfortable with them. There is no obligation to move to a heavier pen, it is ALL PERSONAL PREFERENCE.

    As I had mentioned earlier there are tons of different mods to choose from, including heavier pens. The lighter pens can be used for these tricks, but most new-comers will complain about a lack of momentum. This is where the heavier pens tend to come in handy. Once the fundamental tricks are trained
    into the fingers the other movements should come a bit easier.

    For those who wish to move onto a heavier pen a word of warning. Moving to a heavy pen too quickly can make spinning any other pen difficult. (not always,
    but it's quite common.)

    The most commonly heavy pens are as follows

    • Dr. KT
    • Grip/Tip Stacking based G3 mods and Comssas
    • BusterCYL

    The Pros/Cons of the Heavy-set of mods

    Dr. KT
    http://www.upsb.info/wiki/index.php/Dr._KT
    © of Outlander

    ========================
    Pros
    ========================

    Signifcantly higher momentum
    Customizable in about every aspect
    Longer than MX or Bictory

    ========================
    Cons
    ========================

    Can tire hands easily
    Expensive (can vary from $15-$25 USD)
    Sharp Tips
    Parts aren't common throughout most countries

    G3 Mods and Comssas (stack-kits as I'll refer to them)
    (Consists of mods such as, KuZu G3, Seven G3, Key3 G3, Dr. ComSsa, cheat-comssa, etc)

    ========================
    Pros
    ========================

    Heavier than most pens
    Customizable
    Broad availability

    ========================
    Cons
    ========================

    Expensive(can vary from $13 to $30)
    Parts are very selective
    (some) are quite difficult to assemble

    BusterCYL
    http://www.upsb.info/wiki/index.php/Buster_CYL

    ========================
    Pros
    ========================

    Very Long
    More momentum than a Dr. KT
    High amounts of spin room
    Easy to assemble

    ========================
    Cons
    ========================

    It Is Very Long
    It is Very Heavy
    Not ideal for small hands
    Subjective to Harsh Criticism within the Community

    ------------------------------------------------------

    Now, those aren't the only pens that are available keep in mind, there are hundreds of different pen-mods that are available around the world. The selection is as I've mentioned before, IT'S ALL ABOUT PERSONAL PREFERENCE. YOU make the final decision on what pen suits your spinning the best. Good Luck and Happy Spinning! smile.gif

    well... personally, i HATED it. angryfire.gif it had no momentum. it was just like spinning a regular rsvp. it actually is just an rsvp, except made so that when spinning, you wouldn't get ink marks.

    MX or metal comssa. based on those two you can decide whether you like heavier pens, lighter pens, shorter pens, longer pens, DC pens, or SC pens

    It's certainly possible if you trade with ppl here on upsb or if you get the specialized shipping off of penwish.

    As for the second question, sounds good as long as you like the weight of the mod, feel, etc. Personally I would go for someting a bit lighter like a cheat comssa or signo tipped comssa or metallic comssa (I'm not completely sure about the weight of that pds mod).
