Welcome to the first UPSB modding Challenge.
The purpose of this is to start expanding and bringing in new pens, concepts, and ideas to help " 'liven " the modding community.
The best mod that impresses me in innovation and creativity/spinnability will be chosen the winner.
The Challenge:

1.) To Create a pen mod that uses ZERO parts from any pen listed below
2.) To Create a pen mod that DOES NOT use a Grip-cut
3.) To Create a pen mod that DOES NOT use Vinyl/Electrical Grip cut Patterns.- Tape can be used to secure a cap or fit a cap

Regarding the Subs:

1.) By Substitution pens, I refer to direct copies of that same type of pen/pencil just slapped with a different name. Ex: G2 = Supergrip, Dong-a sign pen = cartoon dong-a.
2.) By Variation pens, I refer to that direct line of pens. Such as Dr. grip having multiple types styles, (American, Japanese, French, COG, G-spec)

2.) Each Submission must contain the following- Parts List
- Small tutorial using Pen-Mod Guidelines: http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=12632
- Reason why you think your pen should be chosen
Handy Tips ->Regarding Multiple Submissions, any user can submit as many submissions as they would like. BUT EACH NEW SUBMISSION WILL REPLACE THE PREVIOUS SUBMISSION with EACH NEW SUBMISSION.
3.) ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE MADE BY JUNE 30th at 11:59 P.M. Central Time
4.) The Winners will be announced JULY 1st.
5.) HAVE SOME FUN PEOPLE!

However, looking at the long list of illegal pens (basically every 'known pen'), there's not much pens left over that I'm familiar with... :\ (at least none I can think of atm)
And since we cant use no name pens, there is even more limitation.
Maybe instead list only the pens that CAN be used instead of the pens that CANT be used?
Or is that intentionally left out and for the modders to figure out? Cuz that could also be an element of the competition, I'm not really sure.

Nah, I think he pretty much hit every commonly used pen used in mods out there so to make a list of pens that you can use would be even longer. The pens that you can use is basically any pen that you can find at Staples or Office Max or something. I don't iMatt's gonna list Staple's whole entire pen inventory, minus the rsvps, g2s, etc... Not using no name pens means that you can't use pens that nobody else can get, like office pens or something.
As iMatt's said, a goal of this is to bring more pens into the modding scene while limiting the pens that we can use to pens that everyone can commonly find at the store so that everyone else can make that mod as well.
This is interesting =] I wish everyone the best of luck with this, and I cant' wait to see some of the modding talent that I know some of the members here have.

That's the point OF THE CHALLENGE. To not rely on any of these common pens that keep being recycled in mod after mod after mod. Heaven forbid you have to go TRYOUT NEW PENS that may or may not work.
The pens that can be used are ANYTHING that ISN'T LISTED. I can't make it any simpler than that.

Why don't you guys get that the point of this thing is to bring new pens that people wouldn't recognize into the modding world.

like say i found this random pen made by idk..pilot... but it pretty much looks like a long straight soft body marker that looks similar to comssas, super tips, m&m's, and so on...than i cant use it?
get what im saying? every single marker that is long, straight, plastic...is pretty much going to be a sub of a comssa, supertip, m&m etc..

As I have mentioned in the previous posts, Anything that isn't a Dong-a sign pen or DIRECT subs made by Dong-a(such as cartoon comssa and the PDS white comssas), bellcolors, or anything listed, is fair game.
What I am eliminating are things such as

So the winner will be chosen by imatt and imatt only?
We shoudl have imatt filter the submissions (valid and invalid submissions)
and then in a poll, the public should vote (from the valid submissions) who should win.

It is his contest, and he is supplying the prizes, so it's up to him. After the contest is over, can people post some of their cool mods they invented? I can't wait to see what some people come up with. I think I'm too lazy for this contest, but I have a few ideas.
