I know I NEED a new angle/cam, and i'm working on it. but with exams... i need to appear as if i'm studying and it's going to take awhile to rig up a permanent camera angle.
I was going to wait to make this thread, but i'll start now because of the HoT HW assignment.
Combo for a Collab that is currently in the "to-be-released" phase, filmed on the 27th of may:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?yzoyyjt1eot
it's probably my latest "combo" besides my crappy copies and my silly free styles.
Breakdown:
rev inv sonic 23-24 > sonic 24-13 > rev inv tw sonic 13-34 > rev ring around ~> spider spin rev .5 34-12 > neo bak 12-123 ~> neo mid bak to air > mid back spin .5 > mid bak 123-12 > invs pass (?) 12-P > rev neo sonic P-34 > rev charge 34 > pass 34-23 > tw sonic 23-12 > Index pinky bak 12-34 > scissor spin 34-T1 > rev thumb around 1.5 T1-23 > rev inv tw sonic 23-34 > ring around rev 34-34 > pinky bak
... breakdown could be cleaned up...

better? ish? -

it's better, but can you try and give it a bit of a more looking downward angle?

I dled some code packs and such, I'm okay. I think a higher angle would be nice and if you could do away with the bubbles, that'd be nice too.
Nice spinning though, Jamie. Very smooth. -

any suggestions on a battle against Mystic? -
Date: Thu, Mar 4 2010 01:19:43
I like your linkage and trick list but you lack control and overall smoothness sometimes.
Mystic has good difficulty and linkage and manages it with great control and smoothness. Good luck! I'd go for a new angle too. I'm sure some of the judges felt that it was detrimental towards full enjoyment of your spinning as it's hard to see certain tricks. -

Yeah I agree, maybe go for variety? I think Mystic is kinda lacking there. -

and be sure to put some creative elements in there to wow the judges.... mystic's spinning is nice, but it's stuff we've all pretty much seen before
i think if you throw something reallyyy different in there, that'll give you the advantage of mystic -

Yeah, his combos are all the same >.>

some mini combos i filmed quickly, if any stand out to you, i'll smoothen them out and use it/them in the battle combo
working on a new angle too ^^ (can some one teach me to use a Sony HDR-HC7, HD but frame rate is not good good for penspinning )
and: difficult creative > stereotypical power?
okokokok, keep the tips coming -

First trick was nice but doesn't seem applicable. I enjoyed the midbaks but they were sloppy. The bust into half-tap mini-combo is a good mini-combo but stylistically could be improved on. Take advantage of a quick moving bust and utilize the half-taps for slow-downs and suspense-building to improve upon the look of the mini-combo.
And... Clean it up, jamie! Narrow down on excess hand movement and keep it smooth. No stutters. I want a good tempo and for it to seem effortless and aesthetic.
I enjoyed the arounds and inv shadows in this combo: http://www.youtube.com/user/jdtheac#p/u/2/pInuJxjIrJc
Lovely baks, would be great if you could incorporate this into your combo: http://www.youtube.com/user/jdtheac#p/u/3/nTQtup6MHRE
Makoto midbak risers! Use it. You're good at them and they have great appeal: http://www.youtube.com/user/jdtheac#p/u/10/Wg2vf3k5peI
Also enjoyed the linkage in the raimo copy: http://www.youtube.com/user/jdtheac#p/u/14/kJOgbomcEms
Great opener: http://www.youtube.com/user/jdtheac#p/u/17/IZchnGQY7_U
Smoother than usual combo I'd like to see more of, aside from 00:10 and the finisher: http://www.youtube.com/user/jdtheac#p/u/1/BiWVQccZXXE -

tis it enough?
i had sooo much trouble filming this, tooo hard

Looks great! The control is much better, makes your spinning look much nicer. Some really good linkage too. It should do, Jamie. No new angle? :[

Crazy stuff Jamie, loved the aerial and the ending was sick. And i dont know why people want you to change your angle, i think the one you have right now suits you and i like it.

The unorthodox angle might work but at the same time, it obscures tricks and jamie's style. It was very refreshing to see jamie with new angles and showed a different side to his spinning which I liked and did prefer.
Beauty is subjective, of course. -

Your combo was way better than his imo. A lot more variety, better smoothness and execution. Even your difficulty was pretty comparable to his.

Date: Thu, Apr 22 2010 23:52:02
probably not the smoothest compared to mystic but the linkages, variety and difficulty are amazing
-
Date: Thu, Apr 22 2010 23:55:24
true that, i'm not smooth when ever i plan combos... but i don't know if i could refilm better
also, is the finisher ok? tis not what i planned, but i happend!
thanks though :3 -

Your spinning lacks the confidence that mystic has. It doesn't feel sure of itself but more experimental. In this case, it has that feeling because the linkages are indeed unique; the experimental feeling is the due to the nature of your experimentation in linkages rather than use of mini-combos honed with repetition and practice. While smoothness is always nice, in this case, I appreciate the thoughtful linkages and would (probably) give you the win unless mystic pulls something unexpected.
Finishers alright but probably the less smooth portion of your combo (there's a change in the pace of your combo after the IPBA Rev) which lessens the impact of your overall combo. -

might have to stick with it because my refilming last night = fail
