like eso said in his review, you probably need a machine to make the threads where the tip screws on. Your best chance would be to try to make a cyon mod, it looks waaay better too. Here's a link for the tutorial : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L_qGIKcImY...re=channel_page (no sound, sorry)

Well, what do you guys think about the modrod? I think it looks ugly, and a cyon knockoff that will probably not sell, and a penspinner/modder could make a better mod.

This is Eso's review on the modrod,

    modrod review

This is like a Cyon knockoff with special threads on where the tip screws made by a special machine, it's not entirely weighted on the ends and you can buy it from modrod.biz for 14.99 i think.

I hate how the front grip hangs off onto the tip... makes the mod look unclean and hastily made (imo)... the grip really bugs me, should be higher up on the barrel so it doesn't cover part of the tip.

I have a modrod Jade and absoutely love it! It is the best spinning pen I have ever used! I like the sturdiness of the pen and it has one cylinder diameter versus the comparison which is nice. As far as the grip, I didn't think I liked it at first either but since I use it for work....it has a really nice feel and writes very nice.

Does anybody else on here have one? I just got mine and am considering purchasing the Rasta? Is the Rasta the same?

yea abosolutely not worth it. see the parts used. its actually pretty sloppy. any pen spinner can make a better mod.

Lol XD I so agree... I'mma try making a Cyon, it's pretty much almost exactly like this, maybe just adapt the tutorial for cyon to the materials for modrod and that should be easy enough >.>

Eso's review was most excellent, and I thank him for the fair and balanced reporting. That said, I would like to make a few more points.

#1 The modrod is made with a pilot easy touch because the outer diameter of the barrel is almost exactly the same as the RSVP. It looks better, and it keeps your brain from having to constantly make adjustments.

#2 The easy touch fits much tighter. That is because the inner diameter of the barrel is smaller than a G2. It's nice for the barrels to fit tighter because there are no threads. Tape will fix the problem, but that is not as tidy.

#3 The RSVP is drilled out to make room for the extra weight (the modrod typically weights .58 oz vs the cyon usually weights .50 oz). The weight can be added without drilling, but then it has to be more centered towardes the midline.

Last of all, it takes two different tools to make the modification on the cap. I think the cap mod to be a critical part of the mod. Here's 3 reasons.

#1 If you do not grind off the clip then you have about .01 oz of extra weight on the outer diameter of the mod. That means you never really quite know how it's going to turn.

#2 If you do not grind off the clip then it can catch on your fingers.

#3 If you do not shorten the cap then the mod looks off balance, and more importantly there is less surface area for spinning.

    Happy Spinning.
