My webcam broke a few months ago so i went on ebay the other day to try and find a nice cheap one
after 5 mins of searching, i came up with this
http://cgi.ebay.ca/New-20-0-Mega-20M-USB-P...=item4ceac7ab91
It's a 20 megapixel webcam, records videos at 160 frames per second and has a dual core processor
and it's only $11.99
The 20mp is obviously interpolated
160 f/s is just ridiculous
and dual core processing for a webcam just sounds retarded
but all in all i'm actually considering buying it
i actually need a webcam right now and it's only 11.99 with free shipping and the buyer has a good rep
does anyone know any other webcams that they're sure of that has good video capabilities and are cheap? -

scam doubt he'd sell it for 12 dollars, unless something is wrong with it.

its obviously a scam.
look:
"Focus Range: 3cm to infinity "
EDIT: The reason that webcams can't reach as high quality as regular Cameras (HD video etc.etc.) is that the USB transfer isn't at a high enough transfer rate to get the quality.
This is currently the fastest made "Webcam" in the sense... http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/19/point-g...other-telltale/
And its using unreleased USB 3.0 and thats the highest they can get it. -

I don't know if anyone cares, but I just wanted to update on the webcam
So I bought the webcam and it arrived a few days ago. At first the webcam was shit, like 10 frames per second and I had just left it somewhere and forgot about it.
Today, though, I saw it and decided to tinker with my lighting and background etc. and the webcam's quality got a billion times better. I filmed a day session with it which you cna find here http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?showt...mp;#entry305675.
The quality turned amazing somehow, and I'm really happy with the buy (cheap and nice)
So if anyone's looking for a cheap webcam that they can buy for the sole purpose of penspinning, I'd recommend this one for sure -

Oh shit. I might just get one of these. Do you know how much fps it actually gets?

I'm not sure about the exact value.
When I first got the webcam, and I was using sony vegas to capture, it said that I was getting around 12 fps, however that was when my lighting and background was horrible
(this is the setup I had and the quality was even worse than this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F98xjFKGm_w)
However, when I messed around the background, I was on the laptop which doesn't have sony vegas, so I was using windows movie maker which doesn't tell you the FPS it's recording at. I'm guessing its around 30 though, it can't be less than that and i doubt its more.
I'm scared in recommending this though, cause of the shit quality that I experienced when I first go it. -

judging by kunlin vid, he got 30fps for sure
the most important attributes are lighting and exposure. if you turn off auto-exposure it can make a massive difference for fps, for quality of image I dunno, if it's not auto focus then you need to turn the knob
but this is not 20 mp 160fps for sure lol so the guy selling this is a fake -

I don't think anyone expected it to be 160 f/s. I'm just glad the quality was better than expected and I cna actually use it for penspinning now.
It can take 20mp pictures though. It's just interpolated so it actually takes about 1.5mp pictures and adds a shitload of pixels everywhere to make it 20mp which is pretty retarded. -

Wow the video quality is a lot better than my lifecam vx 5000. I think i might sell it and buy this one so i can make some money. Seeing as i got my lifecam for $20 and its still retailing for 40. But lulz i wanna see the 20 mp pictar.
