learn how it works, before you learn how to tweak it. -

-
Date: Sat, Oct 31 2009 14:46:46
what do you mean by computer
hardware? software? -
Date: Sun, Nov 1 2009 01:03:20
Depends where you're at and what you want to learn, there is a lot to learn about a computer.
-
Date: Sun, Nov 1 2009 11:47:47
What did you all learn first then?i have no idea where to start lol.
-
Date: Sun, Nov 1 2009 11:57:12
First learn to effectively use google. Do a search on what to learn first about computers.
-
Date: Sun, Nov 1 2009 13:16:30
you gotta specify what you want to learn.
but to learn how it works, i strongly suggest you do some research online , maybe map out how the computer components are interlinked to boot your pc -
Date: Sun, Nov 1 2009 13:28:04
study "C", learn JavaScript, and some web basics and visual design.

learn what exactly, you still haven't said whether you're interested in the computer itself, or the softwares. -

Pardon my stupidity and unclear requests.
1.what are softwares?
2.Maybe learn how does a computer works, fixing it and everything about those codes.(Bsod?Html?Sites?Upgrading?Components?)
I got no target at all, just wanna learn every about computers.Fixing it to making one. -
Date: Sun, Nov 1 2009 23:07:48
Uhh, I have a question too
Everytime I try to install iTunes I get this message "Could not access network location %APPDATA%\."
Then the installation fails. Help? -

software means basically everything that happens when you turn on your computer, its what your computer is doing
hardware is your computer ITSELF, the circuits, the components, the parts.
studying one is very different from studying another. -

Are you using XP or Vista? I thinks theres a registry error.
Microsoft KB
or you could just create a new user. -

After what Zombo said,i think i would like to learn about softwares first. So i will be learning how a computer works and how it starts up if i learn about softwares?

again this problem affects both hardware and software:
how a computer starts means how the electricity flows into in the computer, how the different components are set up. at the software level it is how the OS starts
how a computer works at the hardware level means how do you design the different components of the computer, such as memory, hard disk, CPU, etc. at the software level it means how do you program, how does the computer understand your program, etc. -

What happens when you install a new OS?
Im thinking of installing windows 7 from Vista.
What will happen to all my files?
What will happen to all my preferences?
What will happen to all my stuff like rocketdock, tuneup, dreamscene, registry edits etc..
What about my songs, pictures, videos etc??
Anything to take note of before I install a new OS? -

Windows7 should be able to carry over all your programs, settings, files etc but I would back up your stuff onto CDs etc in case.
That's what I'm doing -

Well that sucks cause how do I save dreamscene into a disc or flash drive and all my other programmes because I deleted the setup files.
EDIT: at post above, check the requirements for uxtheme -

glam, i run windows seven now and i am serious that its worth the money if u plan to upgrade from shitty windows vista thats a pain in an ass to run. its waay better and smoother , kinda like my mac osx. but if you plan to upgrade to a new os, its like reformatting ur wiping out you entire drive. as such, i recommend to get a large hard drive to backup your entire pc. its like migrating to a new place, similarly if u have alot of stuff, you need a bigger luggage. but some software hasnt gained support on seven yet. have to take note of that. i think you should wait awhile, till seven is a stable OS, then you upgrade -

you can upgrade vista to 7 and not lose any anything, but i wouldnt recommend it. it will make your windows slow and with problems
you can also install 7 without formatting, so you dont lose any data, but you lose all your install programmed and settings, etc. but not your porn -

What should my cousin do to his computer if he has over 300 viruses in his computer that has completely no anti virus software at all?
-
Date: Fri, Nov 27 2009 12:54:15QUOTEWhat should my cousin do to his computer if he has over 300 viruses in his computer that has completely no anti virus software at all?
Throw it in the garbage, he doesn't deserve to use a computer, give him a notepad and a pen instead. Really though, get him to reinstall his operating system, and tell him to get some fucking common sense for next time.
Furthermore, Anti-Virus software is not a be-all and end-all of viruses. Viruses often affect your system as soon as they are run by changing settings and installing other software or files. While some AV packages are tailored for specific viruses and probably work very well (until a new version is released), generic anti viruses packages can miss many lesser known viruses and are not nearly as good at reversing the effects of them. Sure, I would say that it is better to have anti virus software than not to (especially when some decent products can be legally obtained for free) but they are mainly only good at identifying and usually isolating/quarantining the viruses. -

How does a computer gets virus?
-
Date: Tue, Dec 8 2009 02:42:25
when you visit infected sites or click links and download stuff that contains a virus.
If I buy windows 7, is it a one time install only? Or can I install it a certain number of times before the serial key gets locked? -

Guysss,
I really need help.
So I dowgraded a Vista laptop to XP and I've been able to install every driver except the audio drivers.
The laptop uses the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC and I have tried to install it and I get this error, but at the same time that I get the error, Windows informs me that it has found new hardware. -
Date: Wed, Dec 9 2009 05:34:37
I had some somewhat similar crap when I was installing audio drivers on this laptop. You might have to install Microsoft UAA drivers first.

How do you know it is infected?
And how do you know which is a spam site? -

Well it's more like you feel "oh this site is suspicious". Some game sites, porn sites, sometimes torrent sites.

Only solution I found.
Just wrong drivers, search for others. Why dont you just do a manual install? -

I extracted the regclean and rebooted and ran the setup for the IDT Drivers again and I get the same error.
What do you mean by manual install?
EDIT: Manual installing has never ever worked. But I tried it anyways, it couldn't find any drivers. -
