Sorry, I haven't been able to get online for a couple days. This file includes each article seperately rather than all in one document. I've had a bit of a nightmare the past week and this hasn't been a priority. Feedback from everyone would be good, about what would make further issues better etc...

Pretty cool. I skimmed through a bit but it's 2:49 AM right now and I'm busy watching a live Starcraft match. I'll read it later.

    Good work. tongue.gif

    Zombo calls that 'brief'? PFFFT

I've only read Zombo's article so far, it was pretty interesting, I've never considered some of those things.

Edit: why are there two identical comssa articles?

That was really good for a first issue. I liked Zombo's article the best, the pen mod articles were also really good. Well done, it's great that this actually got done whatever form it was in clap.gif:clap:clap: Oh Yeah, I also liked the card throwing article Mats, really interesting.

hmm, maybe we should wikify it.

There are 2 same comssa articles... i deleted one of them after i downloaded.

I haven't read them all but i have a suggestion here. Why not move the text to beside the image? that would looks more like magazine. Or centered the image maybe... i see the formating for all the files are slightly different. And using "justify" like in "The Art of Pen Spinning" article would be neat.

    Page numbering?

Only read the zombo's article, editorial and the interview. Pretty cool so far, but I didn't really like the interview - you see, the way you did it was more like "spinner's profile", which would look so much better imo if it was few facts about him and not interview with him (but based on the interview with him)

Anyways, incase that one is down, I did some mirrors (putting them in first post would be nice):

it's quite an accomplishment and i'll enjoy reading through it but i can't believe you released a bunch of word documents. it would have been very simple and much more professional do a little of work on the layout and look of the articles and compile them in one .pdf document.
i'd be happy to help with this in future if you don't have the resources.

this is not a magazine. its a bunch of articles oO

EDIT2: lol ^^ you took one of breens inserts? pretty cool

right, it would also help if the one doing the layout work isn't having trouble with the law and that the chief editor isn't busy and logs in once per week rolleyes.gif

it's either released like that or never released...

I agree, maybe it could be done even now with this magazine, why not.

just put it in the wiki and you have your magazine.

I liked the articles and I'm glad that mine made it in, although I don't understand why it's there twice. I think that it would've been worth it to just wait a while and revamp it, so-to-speak but I wasn't responsible for editing so I don't have any room to talk. Maybe for the next issue we could do like the others say and release it as a pdf. I have some experience with these things so I could help out as well. Anyway, for the first try it seems pretty good and I'm excited to work on the next issue.

I must say, I'm impressed with the magazine. However, I too thought that it would be nicer in a .pdf format. I took the liberty of taking all of the articles and putting them together in a more magazine-like form. If this is not what the creators/designers envisioned, or if they feel that I have stepped on their creative toes, so to speak, I apologize in advance. However, I think that it looks better than the Word documents. I used a template in Scribus, so the design is not top-notch, but I think it's alright looking. I would be happy to work on future issues of the magazine, and I would improve the quality of my design, of course, for future releases. Anyways, here's the pdf:

very nice tswift, however the order is wrong.

Editorial should be the first section, followed by interview, then the featured articles, my article, the two modding tutorials, then the misc news (IMO)

Nice =D Some re-organizing like zumbo said, and maybe some colors to the backgrounds? Awesome job though, I was planning on putting all the text in image files with photoshop but a .pds magazine like this is much nicer ^^

I would have PDFed it, however, my computer (and laptop) had BOTH very recently died and I didn't have anything to put them in a pdf format (and still don't). I cannot work on this project for a while as I'm not able to be active enough. If someone else wants to take over that would be great smile.gif If not, as soon as I'm active again (perhaps a few months) then I can do this again if anyone wants (but better formatted).

Oh, and I haven no idea why the comssa article is there twice confusedsmilie.gif Sorry.

I can take over for an issue or two. I'll make a thread about #2 within a few days.

Ew, the content is great but the way it's presented is horrbile. If you guys would like it i can make a template in photoshop with a nice background... layouts and stuff and then give it to you...

And PDF's FTL becayse they take awhile to load to some users and it ill be better if you just use individual pages and then either make an online one buy click "next" to go to the next page or, Make them download the pages in a zip file and view them seperately

PDFs only take a while to load if you use a bloated program to view them. Foxit Reader users don't have to wait a long time to view PDFs. happy.gif

you have to get some japanese contacts. but not all japanese have a spica account (I think right now there are around 80 members).

also the site is pretty much useless for foreigners because everything is in Japanese.
