Serious Discussion / A Matrix

Are we in one? Thots?

So, I was thinking, what if right now we are all part of a Matrix. What if we were all plugged in, atm, and we are just all part of a grand computer system?

    Thoughts or Opinions?

I don't think we're in one, but I guess its possible. I mean why not? I'm pretty sure there's no proof against it.

I've tried (and I mean REALLY tried) to bend a spoon by telling myself im in a matrix and the spoon isn't actually there. It's just my imagination and I can whatever I want with it... We're either not in a matrix, or that spoon thing just doesn't work.

It used to work, but they patched that bug up.

And I believe so, like when I dream. As soon as I realize I'm dreaming I wake up. Every time, and I just had deja vu.

@UEDan, did u know that if you practice, you can actually realize you're dreaming and still be in a dream without waking up? Its called Lucid Dreaming. It is really sweet. And if practice really hard, you can actually start to influence and then control your actions within a dream. That's what I do every night. It is pretty awesome. I am kinda of an expert, tongue.gif, so if you have any questions, Message me!

Here is a thread about Lucid Dreaming:

Yeah, I've been for a few years now, I'd be good at it now if I actually know I'm dreaming, I rarely wake up and remember dreaming hahha it sucks. You know what might be causing that?

    Watch it again. all 3.

Just thinking... according to Solipsism, the whole world and reality is actually in our mind, if I understood correctly... which means we can pretty much control it as we would like... right?
that sure can bring some optimism into one's life, just remember- you can make everything better thumb.gif

haha a pessimist would think "I can create or do anything with my own mind, and this shitty life was the best I could do? wow i suck." haha

    solipsism and matrix are different

in solipsism, you are the only person who exists. everything is a product of your imagination

in the matrix, reality is virtual, but the other people you see have a real person attached to it behind. it's not just one person.

here's the thing with these theories: you cannot prove it right or wrong right now. we just don't know, it is possible. but does it matter?

hmm well it depends on what you're talking about, solipsism in it's most basic for is just that 'the only thing I can prove is that I exist', and beyond that nothing can really be "known"

so it's really just the same thing you said in your last line

Kinda off topic from the matrix

but if solipsism is real, how comes we can make up like whole films but fail in our maths tests? Surely Infinite films is harder than 100 questions xD

because your mind is limiting your controllable capacity on purpose so that you think you're only human and not any different from the other humans you see in your virtual reality. you can always make excuses to justify anything, which why its unprovable
