    Hi all,

    Here's my tutorial on making my SC mod, shown below cool.gif

    First, the specs..

    COG = COP
    Weight =~ Dr. KT
    Length = ~ 21cm (a touch longer than a KT)
    Spinnability = Very Good (imo as good or better than a KT)

    Spoiler:

    Now, this is what you'll need..

    Flat File or Sandpaper
    Ruler
    Junior Hacksaw or Dremel or equivalent
    Craft/Stanley Knife
    Pliers
    Scotch Tape or equivalent
    Tweezers or toothpick or equivalent

    2 x Faber Castell Grip Matic 0.5 (2 bodies, 2 grips, 1 tip)
    1 x Pilot G3 Cap (fine so the plastic is clear)
    2 x Anyball grips (1 coloured to match Faber body [I used sky blue], 1 black)
    1 x Signo Tip
    1 x Dr. Grip Tip

    i.e. if you have a spare dr. grip tip lying around, this is a fairly inexpensive mod..

    Anyway, here's how to make it..

    Preparing the body

    1. Take both Faber bodies and unscrew the tips, remove the grips and unscrew the bit holding the rubber on the back.
    2. On both bodies, gut out the inside of the Faber. To do this, use the hacksaw or dremel to cut off the black plastic bit at the back of the body, which holds the clip. Be careful not to cut/damage anything inside the body whilst doing this. When you've cut this off, white plastic, which holds the lead, is exposed out the back of the body. Grab this with pliers and with your other hand, pull apart as HARD AS YOU CAN, this required quite a lot of strength on both of mine, so you'll need to make sure you're hands aren't sweaty and you can get a good grip. Also you might want to look away or wear eye protection in case something flies out when you manage it! If if won't budge, you can press in the back which will push the dispenser at the front, grab this with pliers and try to pull this out, either way achieves the same goal and both require some strength to pull out.
    3. Once both bodies are gutted, decide which to use for the front and which for the back half of the mod. On the front body, file to smooth and flatten wear you cut earlier.
    4. On the same front body, file down the small thread which used to hold the tip on until the gr grip will fit snuggly on it and sit flush with the end of the body.
    5. On the back body, saw off where the thread is up until just before you can see a dark band in the plastic (underneath where the grip used to be, about half way. This is where the plastic is thickest.)
    6. File or sand down this end part (just like when making a f1r3fly mod) until it will fit into the end of the other body. You have to be very careful and precise with this, as the plastic will get very thin and it should require a LOT of force to join the two bodies securely, don't try filing it down so that it fits on without pushing very hard as you'll probably just weaken the plastic too much.
    7. Once you've done this, push both bodies together as close as you can (there is only a tiny ridge in the middle of mine, not a big gap) so push them together as hard as you can. Obviously, be careful not to create torsion resulting in you breaking a body and getting it stuck in the other...
    8. Now, put the faber castell grip back onto the front body, and cut the anyball into sections as shown in the figure 1 below..
    9. Put the sections in order on top of the Faber grip (it should go a little bit past the grip, onto the main body) and finally, put the Dr Grip tip over the end, before putting the last section of anyball over it, which will help to hold it securely in place (see my images above)
    Note: The WIDEST part of the anyball should go over the Dr Grip.
    10. Now, measure 17.6 cm from the point of the Dr. Grip tip, to the end of the second body, and trim the second body down using a file or dremel (total length should be now 17.6 cm).
    11. This is the body finished.

    Making the cap

    1. Take your G3 cap, remove the clip then sand/file the bump down fully. Remove the little rubber thing inside (I do this by pressing a random tip hard into it, then tapping the cap on a hard surface until both fall out together).
    2. Cut 1 section off one of your Faber grips and wrap it around the thickest part of a signo tip.
    3. Gut out the Faber tip mechanism using tweezers or a toothpick and place the signo tip into it.
    4. Push the tips into the end of the cap using tweezers and press the signo tip hard so that the Faber grip around it gets squashed into the little bumps in the G3 cap. Shake it and check nothing rattles before continuing.
    5. With the remaining anyball sections from earlier, place a coloured ring into the cap, followed by a black ring, followed finally by another coloured ring (so you see, black, colour, black, colour)
    6. This is the cap finished.

    Putting it together..

    1. Just wrap some scotch tape around the end of body, and place the cap on the end.
    2. Total length should be almost exactly 21cm.

    Finished!
    Enjoy wink.gif

    Looks nice. Good tutorial.
    I don't like the weight, seems too heavy... Might make this with a gripmatic in front and signo and the back.
    either way, still nice.

    I would've liked more pics also, but I wasn't going to pull apart the bodies etc to take them. If anyone makes this mod, feel free to post pics as you do it, and PM me them so I can add them for anyone else. I think I explained it adequately without pics though..

    Yeah, it's quite heavy, especially due to the grip matic bodies being thick plastic but it spins well and if you like Dr. KT's/quite heavy pens then you'll like how this spins. It's my mod, so I did it to my taste and that won't please everybody! wink.gif
