    kay so i have a laptop and an external monitor. i wanna have it so that i can close my laptop without it going to sleep so the big external monitor still displays everything. help?

    Depends. I think if you set it to JUST CRT not CRT+LCD/extended desktop it wont hibernate. But that just may be my comp, Its a Toshiba.

    I assume you have Vista because you the sub topic is newhp.
    Control Panel -> Hardware and sound -> Power Options -> System settings
    When I close the lid: Do nothing.

    Honestly, how do you forget something like that? You see the logo each time you turn the damn thing on.

    XP: Right click desktop -> properties -> Screen Saver -> power -> Advanced:
    When I close the lid of my portable computer: Do Nothing

    I'm running XP, and I'm too lazy to look up 2000.
