Will a translation be worthwhile?

    Hey guys.

I've been planning a PenSpinning Browsergame for almost 11 months now. I started developing it (one more time) one month ago, now we (me and our team) are about to release it for everybody- a version for testusers is already online.

I don't think we can earn enough money to pay the server only by german users (possible sponsors didn't answer yet), so we'll translate the game into english- if there are enough english users whishing to play the game wink.gif.

Here are some facts and features about the game (I didn't release them like that in the german discussion thread on GPC):

    • Themes: The game is based on themes. The first (and maybe only) theme is PenSpinning.
    • Engine: You can open a shop, buy and sell items, take items to the "brooker" (an auctioneers like eBay) or study on university.
    • University: It is required to study "economics" before you are able to open a shop, to buy up one of them or to trade at the stock exchange.
    • Stock exchange: At the "stock exchange" (hope it's the right english word) you can trade with the security papers of shops (if they are a stock corporation) or of producers (for example "Pentel" or "Pilot"). If you own enough security papers you can get rich of them and manage the company.
    • PenSpinning: You can buy pens, learn tricks and go to battles or tournaments. There is a league, too, sponsored by the "game committee" and some shops from the game. You can earn a lot of money right there.
    • Game Committee [not developed yet, only planning]: The "Game Committee" is a committee, leaded by some users from the game. Their leaders are changing every month/quarterly period. As a leader of the Game Committee you can make some important decisions, e.g. how much it'll cost to study on university or how much money the winners of the league will earn.
    • Medicine: You can study medicine, too. If you studied it you can get a doctor, injuring your patients (ppl PenSpinners) substances (legal and illegal) to increase their spinning skill.

I think that's all we planned right now.

What do you think about it? Do you have any questions or do you wish any more features?

I really hope that nobody got a similar idea.

    Greetings,
    SargTeX

P.S.: I may show you screenshots, too, but they are all in german...
Btw: I really hope my english is good enough that you can understand it *g*.

PPS: Discussion topic in GPC (with less informations..)

Sounds awesome. I have some suggestions too.

    1. Stealing people's stuff. This'll be fun but, it's really nothing related to pen spinning.
    2. There must be a way to make money. So, jobs?
    3. Advertising for other companies. Companies could hire you to do a commercial or something and you can get paid.
    4. Fame points..? I don't know, you'll get points for winning battles, competitions, commercials and other stuff. It'll be a way to rank people.

Well, I'll definitely play this if this is released.

EDIT: I just thought of some more. You can have pen spinning classes to increase your pen spinning skill permanantly for the cost of money. Also, the medicine
should just be able to increase your skill temporarily.

Do you mean that the PenSpinner can pay a teacher and then, he might be able to learn faster tricks or sth like that?

Then, how do u think about that:
If you're good in PenSpinning (e.g. you studied it at university *g*), you might become a PS-teacher. Than, a PenSpinner can pay you for teaching him. You can teach at last 3 PenSpinner's. The PenSpinner's skill level will be increased by your teaching. The better the teacher in spinning, the higher the prize for getting teached and the higher the earned skill points.

    Hm...
It's difficult to make a rank like in other browsergames... Because I don't think you can rank a shop-owner with a normal penspinner. So, if there will be ranks, there will only be ranks penspinner <> penspinner, shop <> shop and doctor <> doctor.

Yes, and the problem is, that you might be called by the jury if you take too much illegal "medicine". Then you have to pay lot of fine and might be dismissed from tournament(s) or the league.

Yeah, I just had a hard time explaining. That's perfect. Also, the teacher can only teach pen spinners up to their skill.

Good on this one too. So, you're suggesting different classes/professions.

    No comment, just perfect. ^^

EDIT: It seems like Pen Spinning is a famous sport in the game. Wow, imagine if that was real.

Yeah, it really is wink.gif. You might get a profi-penspinner there.

It will be a splitted rank.

What do you mean by that? That the teacher only can increase their skill (e.g. not their speed points), or that the teacher might have a similar skill level as the "students" have?

I meant that the teachers (Having a higher skill lever than their students) can only teach students below their level. Also, once the student is the same skill level, or possibly higher, the teacher cannot teach that student anymore.
