Philosophy / Wasted Parts

Is it right?

Recently, my father and I have been discussing the wastefulness of pen modding. Oftentimes, after taking off the grip and tip, we often discard the rest.

Think about all the children in third world countries, unable to have a proper education because they simply did not have enough materials. Now look at us, we just use one or two parts, and get rid of the rest, mostly the barrels and inktubes.

So I ask, is there a way we can donate/give away these parts effectively? sad.gif

you can use a pen with only the barrel and the inktube.
all you need is a little tape.

Example: (half of) Airfit barrel + g2 inktube + tape = writable pen

But yeah, there are lots of wasted parts. Sucks. You can't really do anything about that - all hobbies generally have the same output.

Origami. You're folding paper, when people don't have paper to write with?

    Modelmaking. Waste of wood.

I don't throw the parts. I just reuse them and without even using tape.

Thats why my pencil case is filled with junk like empty pen barrels.

Also, you can use unused pen caps to cover your pencils(just the smalls ones though)

    agreed with the first post..

i say we stick unused signo caps and unnecessary clear plastic into water bottles, sell them at those bottle buying store thing.

That way they melt it and make weird looking plastic bottles xD

but all in seriousness, its kinda sad how were taking apart the non-writing part of the pen/pencil and discard :[

hey i did the same thing XD
but hmm, they could recycle their products. i dont think you can recycle pens in a recycle box, and i dont think there's a recycling place for inktubes or barrels, the most important part of a pen, anywhere near me at least >.>

Someone needs to make a recycling place.

You could organize them by material and melt down the plastic, mebe even the metal and start recycling yourself cool.gif. Or just chip it into the recycling bin =]. (Btw for the ink tubes you could easily gather them and sell them online or whatnot, like Packets of unused G2 ink of various colors, I'm sure people would be willing to by them =3.

I just throw all the waste into the recycling bin, let the recycling guys deal with what can be recycled. They would eventually know that we penspinners will keep producing waste from mods and still have the heart to recycle them, and hopefully one day...pens will become fully recyclable : D

Afterall, i fell guilt inside me everytime i chuck the waste in the bin xD

i just save inktubes. esp g3 and sailor ink. g3 ink fits in sailor pens btw(after slightly cutting the inktube).
