2.Dr KT Mod Set "Skull n' bones"
3.Metal Comssa Version "Dracula"
4.RSVP MX Giant
5.Sunburst - Silver

You really don't need that many pens starting out. Whether or not what you have is "good enough" is up to you. Some people are content with just a few mods while others are always making more and more. IMO you have more than enough, at least for now.

bad idea ordering so much when you dont know much about pens, i would have bought only a metal comssa for being a beginner.
start with light pens
what part of the US do you live in? -

Holy sh*t
thats ALOT of pens
How much did that cost? That probably cost more than all of the pens I have right now...
Edit: My parents, being asian and all, never let me order off the net. Im sooo jealous right now. -
Date: Sun, Jan 3 2010 02:12:11
lol 100 dollars n i live in brooklyn, i find using heavier pens better .
Lighter pen is not really good for me. -
Date: Sun, Jan 3 2010 02:41:01
but really lighter pens lets you use more pens out there, while heavy pens limit you to.. heavy pens.
People generally want to see penspinners spin real pens sometimes, I always get taunted for using a modded pen - so being able to pick up a wooden pencil and still penspin is a good asset to have.
Put the KT in the closet for a few weeks/months. Spin the comssa. -

because it's so cool, everyone would want it.
and yah, stick to light pens a bit. when i started out i had a bictory and rg2t for a month or two, then i moved onto the kinda stuff you had at around 7 months -
Date: Sun, Jan 3 2010 02:57:50
wat was the point of buying the dr.kt then? lol , i heard u can learn tricks better with it becuz its heavy
-
Date: Sun, Jan 3 2010 03:49:31
They are used mainly to learn harder tricks, using a Dr.KT to learn the fundamentals will make it difficult to learn harder tricks.
Start with light Mods like the MX or Comssa/Comssa Metallic. -
Date: Sun, Jan 3 2010 08:06:29
It's actually easier to learn some tricks (sonics, for me = passes) w/ lighter pens than with heavy ones.
And once you get to palmspin x420698 sure, the kt would be very useful, but it's not needed [nor recommended by the community -- generally] for the early stages of penspinning.
However it's still your choice, I guess. -

How much penz do u need for the first month really?
im planning to buy 50 dollars every month, for this whole yr -

Looking at what you have, that might last you a looong time... just like spend $10 or so every month when you need new pens like G1s, G3s, but mostly try to find or sub anything you can. -

lolololol that's like more than i have already.
um, 50 dollars a month on pens? no that's overkill considering you should work on spinning before modding. having a lot of mods is no fun if you can't spin them
oh and i felt the same way before about the heavy pens thing. i was like omg why haven't i been spinning heavy pens my whole life? but they get boring after a while, and if you try to spin any other lighter pen, you will fail.
and i don't want to just agree with everybody, but you have to HAVE TO start learning with light mods. there's just like no debate.
@ktk me too dawg. i went to a camp and everyone was like wtf is that? >.< if you can't tell it's a pen, how can i claim to be penspinning, right? so in public i only spin actual, unmodded pens and pencils. plain old rsvps are actually really fun to spin
good luck on your penspinning journey my friend. -

Well... you dont have to
When I started spinning, I sucked sooo much. I felt like quitting because of how bad I was. It's kinda like playing the violin and sounding like shit. But then I got a CYL and spun it a bit, and the momentum was so great I felt like I could actually do something with a pen... And then as I got better I switched to lighter pens, because for me, it was a challenge without the momentum provided by the heavier mods. It's like piggybacking, like you don't have to do all the work. I still suck alot at spinning, but it really helps me learn tricks -

Nice array of pens to start with but no regular RSVP MX?
-

He has one. It's the RSVP MX "Giant"
-
Date: Mon, Jan 4 2010 03:41:28
$50 a month on pens?
I'd say you have enough to last you for a long time and save up that money for something else.. or donate to the board lol.
Just practice first.
spin the comssa, use the Dr.KT for learning tricks.
Really, the only mod you need right now is the japanese pencil mod. only costs $2. -
Date: Mon, Jan 4 2010 03:45:56
You're lacking the l33t mx.
-

Oh, I assumed that was a different type of MX. My bad. -
Date: Mon, Jan 4 2010 06:31:44
TO start off you dont even need a mod, just use an unsharpened pencil.
Even now I find an unsharpened pencil is exponentially better than half the mods i've ever made or spun... -
Date: Mon, Jan 4 2010 07:15:40
$50 a month?? if your a modder maybe not even that much if your a modder I spend about $60 for three months
the pens you have right now will last a while and you can always trade them for new mods
the momentum on heavy mods is what makes them seem easier but if stay with heavy mods for a while its kinda limits you because if you spin a light mod it'll take you a while to get that same tricks down.
its best not to use the KT for the fundamentals as you learn advanced tricks you could start using them. i still dont use them for advanced trick because when you do spin some heavy mods its really easy and its doesnt limit you so much because you can use both types.
good luck spinning -
Date: Mon, Jan 4 2010 20:40:35
im getting the Colour Pencil Mod ( japanese pencil) next month and which pen should i use now? i practice 8 hours during sunday and today during school . i spinned in all my classes and i perfected the reverse finger pass and normal fingerpass
-
Date: Tue, Jan 5 2010 08:28:42
Shit dude why did you go crazy on pens when you're just starting?
Also you can 'perfect' yoru fingerpass they will just keep getting better the more you spin and anyway its pretty much impossible to get a good fingerpass in one day. -
Date: Tue, Jan 5 2010 09:41:23
I don't think he got it in one day but nevermind, just keep practising.
If you're trying to practice old tricks that you've already know but trying to get better at it, use the comssa or something.
If you're trying to learn a whole new trick, use the KT, but after awhile when you've managed to do it a few times with the KT, switch to comssa.
When you get the jap pencil mod, put all these away. -
Date: Tue, Jan 5 2010 20:30:38
I can spin my pen around all the fingers really quickly , up and down
and i spin everyday during class and when i get home(now) .
i spin when i have the chance. -
Date: Tue, Jan 5 2010 21:22:54
its sad how beginners nowadays start off with heavy mods and get screwed later...
just start with light mods such as comssa, rsvp mx, product sc...
i dont care if its easier to learn tricks with heavy mods, you have to learn simple tricks with light mods and maybe harder tricks with heavier mods
right now my fav mods are lighter than the stuff your using -
Date: Thu, Jan 7 2010 21:32:51
well i like it and im a little jealous
-
Date: Fri, Jan 8 2010 00:22:00
Thats awesome! I dont know if its necessary to have all those, but its up to the spinner.
-
Date: Fri, Jan 8 2010 01:00:40
its probably best to just have a mod and stick with it, so that when you're practicing, you're not wasting a portion of your time getting used to the pen.

Starting with heavy mods and being worse than everyone else using light mods is just a stereotype. It's all about personal preference. -
Date: Fri, Jan 8 2010 18:35:22
You ahve alot of pens O_O
I only have an rsvp mx >_<
I spun my friend's KT, its so heavy D: -
Date: Sat, Jan 9 2010 01:24:16
kt is really heavy since my fingers r like .... tiny
-
Date: Sat, Jan 9 2010 03:56:20
Ok good so don't use it.
Use the comssa
Or Jap pencil mod.
And you can stop buying pens for awhile now. Just keep practising first.
And use that money and buy yourself a premium membership on the board. -
Date: Sat, Jan 9 2010 21:28:24
premium membership? wat those that do? lol

OMGEEE
Plus one.
I hate feeling guilty when I spin heavy mods because everyone is hatin and going like lulz noob you cant spin anything else
But anyway, try to learn as many tricks as you have pens and you'll be good to go -
Date: Wed, Jan 20 2010 12:32:15
i would sell away all those heavy pens
-
Date: Sat, Jan 23 2010 15:33:39

Date: Thu, Jan 28 2010 23:30:05
Even though I'm a beginner, I gotta say - you spent way too much money. Right now, I only have three mods, and I only spent about $30 on pens since I began spinning (around 1.5 months).
And for the light vs heavy, I think that light is better for beginners. It helps your fingers get more strength.
