Which is better?

I need your help with something.
Recently i got a new CPU with a better processor, more RAM, and better stuff (according to my Dad).

So i downloaded a FPS game i played called Combat Arms (CA) that i played on my old CPU. It ran smoothly (not great but smooth) on my old CPU.
Now i play it on my new CPU and it seems it does not run as smooth as on my old CPU.

I also recently added a new (and better) Graphics Card to my CPU.
My old card was a ATI RADEON 9000 while my new one is a MSI R4350-MD512H - graphics adapter - Radeon HD 4350 - 512 MB.

I do not know which graphics card was better so i ask you for your help.
    Which Graphics card is better?
Does the amount of storage memory (not RAM but the storage memory found in harddrives) affect gameplay? I believe i had more storage memory in my old CPU.
What else affects how smooth CA runs?

    Have you updated your drivers?
    Are your settings too high?
    Have you updated your drivers?

The HD 4350 is made to be a budget card, watch a few fancy videos and thats all its meant to do, but I highly doubt its wimpier than a RADEON 9000.
I'm looking at the specs now, yeah its hella wimpy. And if you do update your drivers and your game still runs like crap, then its your wimpy card.

EDIT:Harddrive space does NOT effect performance so much that it would be noticeable.

im using onboard graphics on a computer about 2 years old
if i use a graphics card from a computer about 7 years old, will it be better?

EDIT: Sorry I spoke too soon. It depends on 2 things, the card itself and the game(s) you will play.

If it is an older game not requiring the newer graphics technology then the older card should handle them just fine.

If its a new game and does require the newer graphics technology then and older card might not even load the game.
Then if thats the case the onboard is probably the best you can do.

Then how come when i play Combat Arms, it seems the game is running worse than when it ran on my old CPU?

if you're playing with higher res and settings then it might run slower,

you might have unnecessary programs installed with computer that slow it down

I'm pretty sure any onboard even an intel 4500 is better than a dedicated 7 years old

You didn't answer my questions, did you update the drivers?
I just seriously think its the card.

I updated the drivers but it still doesnt run as smoothly as before :/
So now i am checking all the recommened specs vs my specs..

    Which is better?

    Pentium 4 - 2.4GHz vs. AMD Sempron™ Processor 1800+ 1.61 GHz

I know i have more RAM: 512Mb RAM vs 1.5 GB RAM

GeForce FX 5600 vs HD 4350

    wth is Direct X??

DirectX is a collection of several librarys that applications use for several different things (Access Video, Input, Sound, etc). You don't really NEED the latest edition but you shouldn't have anything lower than what it requires.

CA requires so little from your computer. I have a radeon 4750 and i can run it max settings EASY. even without a graphics card you can still run it fine. I don't see what your problem is....

    EDIT:

ok now I see your parts.
Man all of your parts stink no offence. the pentium 4 should be able to run it fine, my old pentium 4 could.

Also, 1.5GB is nothing.. that's as much a netbook has. To do any gaming i would highly suggest at least 2 gigs of ram, and for the higher end games 4gb.

The most important thing for gaming is the GPU. Both the GeForce FX 5600 and the 4350 are very old and budget cards for back then. You can't expect much from those cards.

    On each system run this:

    http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/

It's a utility that assess your parts compared to the standards of the game requirements.

    Comes in handy.
