I can only get 0.5-1.5 rotations with an MSXA.

I want to steer away from middle gripping...anyone got any tips on raising the rotation total?

I do it with a TA push btw

It's easier if your palm is slick, if you wash your hands it'll make the pen feel slippery but give you more rotations. Also, make sure your palm is not flat, bend your fingers back so there's this small arch, spin the pen on the arch, or make the pen go down to the bottom of your palm. It spins well on those two parts of the palm.

What's the problem with middle gripping the pen?

@Square: It doesn't matter why he doesn't want to use them.

@Crzyazn: If you are going from a Thumbaround push, I would suggest practicing Thumbspins until you can get a good spin centered on the knuckle (a few spins on the thumb first). Then, transition to the the palm, letting the pen land on the inside of the base knuckle with the fingers bent back as far as you can, like k2thez said. If you can get the pen centered on the palm-side of the base knuckle, it should continue to spin for a while.

I was only inquiring into why.

Perhaps you could use a middle gripped pen to get better at it, and as you get better transition to a pen without one?

A Fl. TA Rev push makes it a lot easier to get the pen to make more rotations imo, you should atleast try it out.

just...like..stretch the palm as much as you can and try to control it...you must have a good push as well

    Yeah, ofcourse :D

But it would still give the same effect as a regular palmspin, which direction it moves in doesn't matter. Whatever is easiest.

is a palmspin with a TA push a TA > Palmspin?
like does it go around the thumb then into the palm, or push it like you're doing a TA and let it drop on the palm?
    confused :\

Edit: sorry for reviving an old thread >.<

I usually go with a Thumbspin[p][s 1.5] ~ Palmspin [s][c] instead of just a TA. If you want to do a TA, just replace the TA catch with a Palmspin after the pen goes around the thumb.

I think one way to get your revolution count up is to use a metal ballsign because of the extra momentum and the slippery body, which really helped me get more revolutions

or how bout using your other hand to start the spin?

    Like this? http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=rgI1b3H-RgU
You can link TAs and TA revs to palmspins in the middle of your combos.

You can do things like thumbaround-> palmspin 0.5 (any finger slot), or you can do the charge rev. t1-> FL TA rev. -> palmspin like Nory does.

my problem is that my hand blocks the spin...after 1 spin the pen goes out of the hand because it crashs with a little "hill" in my palm....that is stupid...

@ryzaku: you can something like a Bakriser ~ Palmspin
    or
Bakriser ~ Backhand Bounce > Palmspin

Whats the easiest move to go into a palmspin?

  25. iColor

    IMO, thumbaround.

  26. Prince
    Date: Sun, Feb 7 2010 19:22:07

How is it meant to spin in right hand?

When I do it with my right I do it clockwise, is this correct?

People say do ta -> palmspin but this would mean it goes anti-clockwise.

    I do ta rev-> palmspin.

  27. L2PlayNoob

    @RdHg
I learned it doing Thumbaround, but then someone said to try fingerless thumbaround reverse.
It's really all up to personal preference, but I think fl ta rev is easier because less stuff is in the way and the palmspin comes very smoothly.
If you don't know fl ta rev or just don't like it, ta rev works fine too.

    @Prince
    TA goes counterclockwise
    Rev goes clockwise

  28. Prince
    Date: Sun, Feb 7 2010 20:09:02

    1)Yeh thats what i said
    2) Does it matter which way you go
    3) I find ta rev -> palmspin (clockwise) easier
    4)Number four

  29. L2PlayNoob
    Date: Mon, Feb 8 2010 04:13:56

I don't think it matters which way you go, someone's not going to bash you for doing a palmspin reverse when you should have done a palmspin.
I guess it's all up to how you want the combo to look.

    I agree with number 3
    and number 4 tongue.gif

there will be a number of ways to start a palm spin
    1. just spin it with left hand
    2. inverse shadow
    3. ta > palm spin

they are the 3 i can think of

put everything with 'rev' and you get starts for palmspin rev

fl ta rev ~ palmspin rev
    bakriser > palmspin rev
    fingeraround rev ~ palmspin rev

easiest is left hand push though i think, provided your right hand fingers can bend back a bit.

tw cobra bite > palmspin? dunno.gif
any sort of air > palmspin? dunno.gif
    bak > palmspin?
    bak~fl ta rev > palmspin?
tf charge release (dunno how to really describe it :/) > palmspin?

can someone give me an example of a way to start a SIDEspin? i know this is the palmspin section, but since the sidespin section was 3 years old... tongue.gif

besides, i think they should be merged lol

It's like an FL TA push, but it goes immediately into a palmspin, watch TEK's videos of Sidespin, that helps a lot
