My social final essay is tomorrow(Monday) and the question is,

To what extent should we embrace globalization?

I know its all based on opinion, but I'm going to write about the side that has more to say. (Not sure which side yet)

Help would be greatly appreciated. smile.gif

EDIT: If you could think of a thesis, that would be fucking awesome wink.gif

Say it's a good thing if used correctly. It has lots and lots of potential to be abused, so everything has to be watched carefully, if let go unchecked it turns into a shitstorm for everyone. But it can also be a good thing

What is this, 9th grade global studies? Globalization with restrictions is good for all. You think of the points...

This subject is lame as you can back up whatever side you want, you can say it's bad or good or wherever in the middle as long as you find 3 points to back it up, and make a generic 5paragraph essay. They're not really looking for revolutionary insight, just regurgitation.

Well you should probably say that globalization is good for increasing efficiency and knowledge in multiple fields, but one thing that all must be weary of is the assimilation of cultures. To keep individual races and ethnic cultures distinct is important for tradition and historical importance.

Exactly. For someone who admits he doesn't know much on the topic, it's the perfect stance for him.

False. Its a high school essay and taking a stand in the middle will give you a failing mark, even if u have the best back up points.

Except I don't want to seem as if I dont know much in the topic.

no matter what you choose you shouldn't run out of things to talk about. Just go with the choice you think is easiest to write about.

I mean if you wanted to with some research you could write a book on either side.

it's stupid to be completely for one side or the other, and you'll sound stupid if you do.

imo the best to choose is for globalization, there's lots to write about there, and to add even more to write about, put a paragraph about the limitations that must come with it. that way you don't sund stupid for blindly supporting, plus more to write about

Zombo that's exactly what my teacher said
but what are 3 really good pro

a good con would be assimilation but what do I say to counter that

EDIT: k my teacher said think both side of thr argrument
    first par is stand one
    sec par is stand two
third par is a strong convincing stand for one or two

and ofc an intro and conclusion

I guess on request of Mr. Beef, I shall expand on my idea(s).

Anyways globalization is an integration of cultures, societies and economies of all the regions of the world. As you can start to understand, there are as many pros as there are cons to this; the pros would include all the spread of technologies and ideas throughout all the societies. This allows the more developed countries to expand further as the result of helping the lesser developed countries learn and establish an infrastructure. Although this is a positive there are negatives (some which are ridiculous) about the effects of globalization; one ridiculous reason is that it easily allows a method of a "Big Brother" to gain power and create the New World Order or whatnot. A more practical reason of antiglobalization is that it reduces the diversity that most enjoy of historically significant culture and traditions. A globalized culture would assimilate all this into one conglomerate culture that would either belittle or completely eliminate the differences in culture.

Edit: Oh I should probably say, globalization during the years before equalization would allow outsourcing and such that would allow the MDCs to take advantage of cheap labor, loose safety/health laws, and whatever else jackassery there is of the LDCs.
