Pen Modifications / What kind of mods are for Beginners?

   I'm a beginner at pen spinning. I know ta and ta reverse, shadow, infinity, finger pass and finger pass reverse. I'm having trouble with sonics. I'm not getting charges in. I recently read that if your beginning you should have a lighter pen to learn control first. I'm using the bictory and rsvp for this. Should I be using a heavier mod? Maybe even lighter? Also what about length and thickness? Tell me what you think.
