What makes a loop combo a "loop" combo, and not just a normal combo?
This has baffled me for....uhh....3 minutes, BUT IT'S STILL DRIVING ME CRAZY!!! -

You mean like K4LC? It's just a way to name short combos that have a certain number of rotations. Kam's 4 Loop Combo = 4 loops which means 4 rotations. Commonly used short combos used to be named this way before.

loop means rotation, it's as simple as that.

Historical naming: it was just one of ways that combos were named "back in the day".
The Historical "Loop" combos thread gives examples of combos that were named with "loop" a few years ago. Not all of them were anything useful/new/exciting, it was just was just what was done back then.
