Pen Modifications / Need a bit of help for a new idea for pen with lights!

I thought it would be cool to incorporate my new found Computer Tech skillz from school
Currently i have the a working mechanism that uses a 5mm white LED with 3 ag4 batteries. The batteries are stacked in half a bic stick grip. On the negative terminal, a LED is attached with the negative pin bent up. The positive terminal goes along the outside of the bic grip with a signo grip over it all. To complete the connection, I used the bic color code eraser mechanism. I attached a hgg tip so that when you turn the eraser in the signo grip, it brushed the positive pin and the hgg tip makes contact with the positive terminal on the batteries. I plan to encase it in a Jimnie cap (fits perfectly). My next step is to decide on the barrel. I plan to use the color codes barrel.
I need suggestions and opinions on the barrel length, and my idea so far. I'm slightly concerned about the weight of the pen as well. -

Hi,
it sounds like your whole assembly fits in your end-cap, so does the barrel really matter?
weight also doesn't seem like its going to be an issue if its at the end of the pen (in the caps) I'm estimating about 2 or 3 grams for your whole electronics package? just as long as its balanced
some pics would be good also to understand the set-up, sounds great so far!
