anyways i've notice how there's some threads that ask for help on equations, projects, and homework in general. so i made this thread so there wouldn't so much threads. So i'll start this off i need help on project that ask for the definition of nuclear energy of nuclear fission and fussion with a picture and an explanation why i drew this. Please help D':

uhm.... use the internet to find the definitions and draw pictures such as nuclear power plants, molecules splitting etc?

    like for nuclear fission do

    and so on

that is an example of nuclear fission D:

A diagram of a mechanical system that shows potential energy and kinetic energy. Maybe a catapult or a pulley system. Or even someone at the top of a building about to drop a ball.

    Bull.

Wiretapping doesnt do much, imo. Theres no proof or anything, plus with audio editors out there, everything can be edited.

Because turtles play a huge role in the economy. Turtles are a pet that alot of kids get. So there fore you get money from selling the turtles, which help the economy. But if they went exstinct then the economy would drop

Oh yes, because pet turtles are that huge in demand! facepalm.gif

well, when you put in to how many kids there are and how many kids like turtles then that could change the economy

because people dont want things to go extinct in general.
they want to preserve whatever they have
    its just human nature

Need help with a basic Physics equation. D:
(This is my first post in a long time, due to struggles with my family and school.)

"Light approaches an unknown material at 40(Degrees.) in air. The angle in the material is measured at 28(Degrees.) Find the Index of Refraction."
On the sheet the answer is (1.37) but I can't figure out how to get the number.

  19. Pudels Kern
    Date: Thu, May 20 2010 21:08:57

    sin(40°)/sin(28°) = 1,37 (or = n/n(air) with n(air)=1)

    Thank you.
Now, I have another problem. D:
    "Using snells law (Sin i/sin r = N) determine :
The angel of incidence in air for a ray whose angle of refraction is 30(Degrees.), in a medium of refractive index 1.40"

    (44.4 Degree's.)

How do I get this one? D: (Doing a physics worksheet, I'm just posting questions I need help with. Thanks guys / girls ) ^^

I need help with yet another one. D:

"A ray of light enters a transparent medium at an angle of incidence of zero. What is the angle of refraction?"

    Show that this approximation works.
    Further infos:
    j>>s
    ln(1+X)=X for |X|<<1
    Stirling approximation: ln(X!)=X*ln(X)-X

what do you mean works, whats the error threshold

  23. Pudels Kern
    Date: Wed, Jun 16 2010 21:48:30

"Show the validity of this approximation" That's all it says. Plus the hint to use the two approximations I mentioned.
This is not for math but for physical chemistry. They don't care as long as the results are not wrong by orders of magnitude tongue.gif

    @Elias:

    First one:

    sin i / sin30 = 1.40

    sin30 * 1.40 = sin i

    i = sin-1 (sin30 * 1.40)

    Should get you 44.4.

Second one: Can't remember, did this like 2-3 years ago. I think it goes right through, with 0 angle of refraction since angle is measured from the normal if i remember correctly.
