Heroes of Tomorrow / HoT Skits

I proposed this in the other thread, but I'm just going to give it it's own thread now haha. So I want to do little movie-like skits that's pen spinning related, or perhaps not even pen spinning related if you don't want it to be.

We'll probably need to recruit help from some non pen spinning friends since I know at least for me, I don't have any other pen spinners around me and I can't hold the cam and film my whole body.

@Charlie,AwonW,Tomo -- you guys could probably do something neat

This'll require a bit of acting and a bit of planning before we hit the filming stage each time.

So, this was all based off of when Eriror mentioned in the shoutbox that he wants to see some movie like videos out, and so I figured we could try and pull something like this off. And when I say movie-like, I don't mean 1 1/2 hour long movie, I mean like 5-10 min skits.

And for those who don't want to show their faces; not doing it at all or masks are your choices then..it's fine if you don't want to do it. We'll probably be doing several skits if you guys want to try and have a skit with each person from an area in it.

A good example of the skits I'm thinking of is Wong Fu Productions; so watch some of their videos if you want to see an idea of what I envision this to be.

I'll need some suggestions for plot though, cause I have no idea what to do for that yet lol

    QUOTE (Jamie Enns @ Feb 26 2010, 12:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Context: a retired penspinner becomes very successful in some industry. The retired penspinner creates a penspinning contest for a single city with the prize being .5 million. the tournament is set to take place 6 months after it is announced

Plot: the public+news laugh off the idea of a "penspinning contest" but the protagonist decides that he will have a strong chance in winning the comp if no one else joins because it is widely considered a joke. So he hits up the youtube tutorials and slowly gets into penspinning. as the story continues, he discovers that others are doing the same as him! As the competition heats up, the news takes a 2nd look at the intense training that is taking place around the city. He befriends some other fellow competition and is soon renowned for his skill with in the new penspinning community. It becomes clear that he is good, but not the best. the story climaxes and ends with a tournament with a HUGE local, (and international via tv/internet) audience as the city/world has changed there perspective on spinning over the last 6 months. Miraculously, He wins the money, but uses the money to fund a penspinning store that gives classes every tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:30.

How about doing something like "P for Pen Spinner" - a parody, of sorts, of V for Vendetta.
And we could make episodes, or a 30 minute movie. I'd be psyched for either. tongue.gif

    Volunteers for Skit writer/actors
I'll need the skit writer to write more than just the skit they want to be in. lol, I know a couple of you are good writers out there ;D
Actors can write a bit of their own skit as well

Okay, I just wanted to throw this up here even though this project is pretty much postponed til after at least HoT 2nd, in case anyone comes up with anything that I can put in those lists. I wanna create a list, and then we can pick and choose what we want to act out.

Haha, I like it Jamie. Needs to be shortened though. Seems more like an episode kind of thing.

Sign me up for skit writer!

Since the pen spinning world is already familiar with me, I have no problem showing my face. I suppose if this all gets squared away then JC & I can do something this Spring Break or during the summer.

    Not important.. haha

Sooo.. with this P for Pen Spinning/Pen Spinner thing... evan, are you thinking of
    1. Pen spinning hero kinda thing
    2. Starting off pen spinning and learning about it
    3. Seeing a new person start off, and you being the pen spinning veteran guide them and have them look up to you

    ...or something?
I was thinking about #2 and have both of us pretend like we're starting off new again tongue.gif lol

I was thinking about 5-7 (or <15) min vids, but I guess we could use this to jump start this whole skit thing if we do #2 idea and do a 20-30 min video.
I don't trust episodes, seems too hard to keep up... i'd rather do short skits that start and end after each show.

I suppose it would be more along the lines of meshing all three ideas...

Here's kinda what I was thinking:
Pen Spinning had become so popular in the early 21st century that it eventually made it into the olympics, where its popularity skyrocketed. However, people began to be obsessed with PSing to the point where people would murder for the latest and greatest mods. By the beginning of the 22nd century, pen spinning, as well as most forms of personal hobbies, were made illegal. P, though, rises against this oppressive government through one of the most unique forms of self-expression:pen spinning. He, armed with his signature weapons (all black MXs), and his female lead, whom he trains in the banned arts of PSing, spark a movement of self-expression and freedom that inevitably crumbles the oppressive government.

And you better believe that there will be a monologue with mostly p words. To be honest, I think that we could make a mini series during this upcoming summer, John. This project would probably best be handled that way.

okay..when i was thinking skits.. i was thinking of like more real life situations .__. something maybe people can learn something from...
but we could try and do a small episode series like thing with that p for pen spinner idea.. lol
yeah, summer would definitely be the best time to do it

I don't think that we could make "skits" a learning experience in any way. They sure as hell wouldn't suffice for things like tutorials. To be honest, I think that if anything, these skits would provide a comedic scene for pen spinning to be engaged in...

What do you guys think of a music video skit that incorporates PS? Song suggestions would be nice too. I think it'd be a nice blend and keep things interesting. I'm trying to think of a good way to unite all of us together in this. Or would it be better to have something more...formal?

  16. AwonW

Well aren't collabs kinda like PSing music videos? Unless you want to choreograph some sexual dancing for us or something like that.
Edit: Didn't read "skit" But I don't really get how that'll work.

Hmm, a summer skit. That sounds plausible.

No good ideas yet, out of inspiration, but I'll try.
