well "other forms of manipulation" forum is dead compared to this one so don't bite my face ph34r.gif

but yeah i was thinkin of picking this up too in addition to pen spinning... but theres a few questions [i cant find a balisong flipping forum]

    1. will it make pen spinning difficult? i spin mid-weight mods like mx and my knife isn't exactly feather light.. will it have the same effect on my PSing as spinning a heavy pen would? i seriously hope not
    2. is it similiar to pen spinning trick-wise? surely they must have SOME finger motions in common.. even if they dont, learning should be quicker what with finger independence boost from PSing that some people wont have when learning it
    3. i already have a butterfly knife which is where i got the idea from seeing it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnuYi-nzE90 and have found videos of actual people doing it.. is it taken seriously anywhere? like pen spinning is

and the most obvious problem is practicing it... the one i have is hella sharp so im going to probably wrap tape or paper around it or something so i don't cut my precious fingers off ssst.gif only for practice though because it would look pretty retarded spinning a knife with tape on it in front of friends. only downside is i cant do this in school sad.gif or airports... or.. really, nowhere, lol. but it looks badass and in some crazy scenario some quick knife flipping might save my life o.o

some of you guys are ninjas with your fingers im sure you do this

oh god 666th topic and i saw 11:11 on my clock today... im gonna die tomorrow aren't i..

edit2: honestly, it doesn't seem as hard as pen spinning. not nearly as delicate or refined, but i think it looks more impressive in a way. better WOW factor no?

No, I flip a heavy balisong made of carbon steel and can still spin mx's
    2. is it similiar to pen spinning trick-wise? surely they must have SOME finger motions in common.. even if they dont, learning should be quicker what with finger independence boost from PSing that some people wont have when learning it
Not really, I think that only fingerpass rev/normal are the only tricks similar to PS

In Philippines, balisong is studied...I think there are dojos in PH that teach balisong? but balisong flipping isn't the main thing taught there..I think it's just minor...and Filipino flippers especially from Batangas are FAR better than these guys you see on youtube...and Filipinos actually use these knives especially thieves

lol that's stupid...Filipinos practice w/ real balisongs...they don't use practice knives...or you can try looking for balisongs w/ a comb as the blade lol
or airports... or.. really, nowhere, lol. but it looks badass and in some crazy scenario some quick knife flipping might save my life o.o
get a balisong here in Philippines...get the one which is made from Deer / Carabao horns or horse bones...it won't get detected by metal detectors

thanks, useful advice but im not a hardcore fillipino criminal o.o i'd be a little afraid to practice with a real blade since i [probably?] will be messing up and require practice

unless i want my fingers full of gashes or worse... sad.gif

edit: a knife is a knife and even if metal detectors dont find it i still cant actually flip it in the airport lol.. thats why god invented pen spinning i suppose smile.gif

me too...and that's what REAL balisongs are made of...not titanium or any other metal...those expensive ones and good quality ones are made for flipping...the crappy light ones and get rust are the ones used for killing...but i dont think anyone here is dumb to buy a balisong for killing...
