Manipulative Arts / Lighter Tricks
-
Date: Mon, Jul 16 2007 21:57:49
This site is about the art of performing tricks with lighters (specifically zippo lighters). You certainly wouldn't want to miss out this amazing site. Also look around in the PRO CORNER for some good articles. I believe some of the theories can also be applied to Pen Spinning.

It's cool that there is a site for this manipulation back on because a long time it was closed, i think.

I tried learning some of the squeezes, but the spring in my zippo is too tight. And I don't really have the patience to open and close it a few thousand times. I guess after a while of using it it'll loosen up.

I try to learn tricks too but my zippo is broken
I'm searching for a new one but I really enjoy lighters tricks. -

i was doing some zippo manipulation, but i didnt keep practicing as i think its not as fun as other manipulations.
I still think its nice though, the thing i dont like is that there isnt many variations and different tricks. -

You dont have to. Just slightly modify your lighter.
You know that little thing at keeps the lip closed/open?
There should be a clip under it.
Get a small flat head screw driver and push it down until desired. -

If it is a real zippo then just send it back and they will always fix it for free as they have lifetime warranties. Mine broke and they just sent me a new one. -

Zippo manipulation is kind of cool, but, I still think it's only useful if you use a lighter often. Get what I mean?

I am doing Zippo flourishes and illusions too. I enjoy it very much. This has been close to make me start smoking though, which i wouldnt enjoy very much. When people gets to see my entire Zippo collection, their first question is: "Do you smoke a lot?", lol.
and no, you cannot do this at school!, be careful if you wants to try it... you risk a lot of money. -

Someone mentioned that people who do lighter tricks mod their zippo...but really what is there to mod other than lightening the hinge which was already mentioned?

Make the flame bigger.
Make a midget lighter.
Lighten/tighten the flint spring.
Umm I'm sure theres more. -

Ugh, i went to the mall to buy a zippo after reading about zippo manipulation but the store that sells all the nice ones in different finishes and such closed down! Blargh
And what exactly is a midget lighter? -

That thing is 2/3 the size of a standard zippo. -
Date: Mon, Sep 17 2007 01:44:29
What about making the zippo light up the moment you flick it open really quick. I'm pretty sure there's such a thing.

I think just once, but I was trying to do the Flesh Torch. OUCH!
And those times when I tried to put out the flame by covering the top with my finger.... NOT a good idea. -

Was wondering, do they mod their lighters like we mod our pens? =x
But the manipulation was nice, a bit like our 2p1h. -

I bought all my zippos from wannalight.com - Cheap, and in quite good condition. Ships international as well.
A month ago i made a Zippo lighter commercial in a school project, pretty nice reactions from the school

Lighter tricks...They're so great. Even if you've got to put up with people thinking you smoke a LOT after watching a whole collection of lighters. About burning yourself...Nah, it's not something that happens too often; even if you put the flame out by gliding your fingers above, like in the twilight trick. And as for the flesh torch, you'll eventually get used to the heat. I cook and have burned myself enough to say that a flesh torch ain't that bad. I myself don't mod my lighters, except one that's used for the twilight zippo, but that's about it; and if you're seriously interested I would recomend a Zippo lighter and "50 Ways to Rock a Lighter" as a starter's kit.

Got interested in lighter tricks before I started looking for PS. I only learned 3 tricks, though. Didn't find much on the internet at the time. Same with PS when I 1st started looking...

I dont think there is one, because it comes empty. Then again, it really does depend on the store. Army Navy store didnt check me. Drug stores will. -

I knew about this already but dam that was pretty sweet. Viral market video of the LG Secret phone. Pretty awesome... would have loved to see the guy spin his pen tho >_>
-
Date: Fri, Jun 20 2008 21:11:08
Haha that was cool. I like how he lit the phone on fire. He wasn't really on beat though. Just in case people are wondering, the song is a hip hop remix of canon.
-
Date: Sat, Jun 21 2008 13:20:25
this is not zippo manipulation...
more like doing beats with random stuff, like pen tapping. -
Date: Sat, Jun 21 2008 13:30:13

-
Date: Sat, Jun 21 2008 13:32:55

-
Date: Sat, Jun 21 2008 18:13:19
@popnfresh930: I think the point is to show how indestructible the phone is.. so no I suppose
-
Date: Sat, Jun 21 2008 23:16:15
Im talkin about the guy flipping the zippo zombo. Not the fact that hes making beats.... Like this guy...
-
Date: Sat, Jun 21 2008 23:20:00
