bio is memorization, chem like strat said is advance note taking, and physics depending on which type and what lvl you are doing is partly math. when strat says advance note taking, i think he is talking about the lab reports that you always have to do.

    all

Take physics, its most relevant to.....stuff

    Take all of them.

physics is basically a bunch of concepts applied to math, bio is just a bunch of memorizing, and chem is a mixture of the two, so you get concepts, math and some memorizing.
Go with chem smile.gif it's basically the middle ground and you can later relate it back to biology or physics whenever you take them

take things that sound interesting to you

i am in tri sci because i wanted to keep doors open in the future
but i've had 2 awful years because of it too

jamie says: not worth taking if you do not enjoy

Indeed, Jamie. Take what your interested in. If you like applied math, go for physics. It's interesting to understand how the world works. I personally enjoyed physics mechanics as it's interesting learning why a coin dropped from the empire state building can't kill a person, and it is the basics of rocket science. So, next time when someone says, "Well, it's no rocket science," you can say that you've studied rocket science.

Chem is rather boring at first as though you also learn how the world works, it's not the sort of application you can apply in real life. You learn of things such as bonds and why they exist and how necessary they are but does it really matter to you? Nah. Lots of memorizing and indeed, some math. Mostly memorizing really. Chem is necessary if you decide to major in either sciences though. About 2 years of it at my university. I've been told it's a pain in the ass.

Biology is interesting if you want to study life. If you have a thing for cells (stem cells? cancer cells?) or the body or the brain or animals, bio's interesting. Lots and lots of memorizing obviously as you're learning facts about... life.

    i completely agree with this

i agree with this too, and i did all three for same reason (had an awesome 2 years though lol)
so if you wanna go into science, then yeah, i'd take all three to keep doors open, if you just wanna take one and get science over with...take physics, assuming you've taken bio and chem already in 9th/10th grade -- it's good to get a bit of all the types of sciences

but if you're into science, this is what i did
    9th - bio
    10th - chem
    11th - ap chem/physics
    12th - ap physics/ap bio

I took physics and chemistry in high school

You can't really get someone to recommend a science to you they are all legitimate fields, people here can't make that kind of decisions, an argument saying one is somehow better then the others is absurd too.

    take physics

Chemistry and Physics. for college i recommend Chemical engineering though. For HS i rec. Both.

In college. Chem Eng can do applied math, chemical rxn, and physics. It's basically physcis and math with chemical reactions.

Thank you everybody. I understand math quite well and wanna know more about stuff like how penny dropped from Empire state wouldn't kill someone, So I taking physics AP for sure. Biology sounds really boring (memorization) and doesn't have an AP course. I thought Chemistry was just memorizing the periodic table of elements and not very fun, but I seem to be wrong. Might take Chem AP

But I heard that you have to take all three sciences to get into a good university like Harvard, even if your future career doesn't have anything to do with it.

I took all three of them in my secondary school but in my junior college, I'm taking Physics and Chemistry. I love all sciences for different aspect of it but a lot of it is really dry to me like mechanical physics and human anatomy. It's doesn't really matter to me 'cause I have a passion for learning. There are several aspects of science I LOVE. I enjoy learning about adaptation, evolution and ecology for biology. For chemistry, all the microscopic and nanoscopic stuff and organic chemistry and are awesome. The science I love the most is Physics. I love to learn about the science behind the universe was made and all that mambo jumbo. Relativity and Quantum physics are one of my Passions. Plus it links to so many other in stuff like chemistry, philosophy (sometimes) and many more. Furthermore, my best subject is maths so it really complements my physics.

    Chem, phy or bi?

I'd rather take chem and phy than be bi!

    Lol seriously..

I'm taking Chemistry and Physics at a pre-u level now. I took biology, chemistry and physics for O-levels though.

They are all related in one way or another, there isn't a more important science imo

Bi is one syllable, easy to say, like phy and chem

Is that all? I mean do good universities only accept people with all 3 sciences, regardless of future career? Bio seems really useless to me since I don't wanna go anywhere near blood or human anatomy. The only reason I could think of to take bio then, is to make my records look good. I mean it would look better than having an "Art" elective.

Actually biology is more than just for human anatomy and blood, the field of life sciences is getting really popular now, and the pre-uni syllabus in Singapore is where a lot of the stuff involves playing around with bacteria and coming up with anti-toxins which is pretty cool.

And by the way doctors don't have to take biology in Singapore. To get a doctorate degree you can just take chemistry in pre-uni. My uncle said it's 'cause all of the biology related stuff being doctor can be memorised and it's not very important.
