COMPLICATED SHIT

    Alright..

I have tmobile and I can get an upgrade. I think I'm on the FamilyTime Plan if it matters.
My parents won't pay for any additional charges like 3G.

    I want:

    3.5 mm headphone jack
    Android OS
homebrew stuffz (android market I think?)
    If possible android 2.1
    triband (this is a must :| )
Wifi built in.. like ipod touch, so no 3G or anything
The speakers should be pretty good

    So my choices are:

    Samsung Behold 2

    MyTouch

    CLIQ

I'm lost :| All 3 cost 150$, which is fine for me. Last week I was pretty sure the MyTouch is the way to go, but then I found out it only has dualband.. I might still consider it if it has some huge advantages I missed though.
And yea, I have no clue about the homebrew scene with phones :|

So help me out here.. (Oh and don't recommend the G1, it's fucking ugly wink.gif )

honestly... the only phone from t-mobile i would get would be the Nexus one or a blackberry
t-mobile doesn't really offer that great of a selection of phones.

Yea, but I can't switch providers. The Nexus one would be a no-brainer IF I would get the upgrade rebate, but I don't. you'd have to pay the full 530$ for a nexus one.. no thanks

I looked up some upcoming tmobile phones.. HD2 looks ok, but seems like a brick.. and then there's Mytouch slider and the CLIQ XT... wtf one gets a keyboard, one loses it o_O
I guess I'll wait a couple more weeks

Yeah... That's what I'm doing. My family has about 3 upgrades up but we aren't using them unless a phone breaks or something. My family has 2 G-1s and 5 blackberrys. We only use the upgrade if a phone breaks or if we deserve a new phone... Otherwise wait it out for a nice phone biggrin.gif That's what I would do!

Few things, if you're not going to use 3g internet then why the hell do you care about it being triband?

And if you want homebrew go with Windows Mobile. You'd get xda-developers, a huge international homebrew forum.

And you're on a GSM network (sim cards), go research for other phones, phones that T-Mobile doesn't offer. You might have to get it unlocked but that can be easily done. Then go on Craigslist or eBay and buy that phone. Many are used but are in like new condition. But you'll get a great deal. IE my sister got a like-new(no scratches, dings, anything) Samsung Innov8 16GB for $200. Yeah its a shitty phone but it was a steal!

    For me:
    Touch Pro 1. 'Nuff said.

When I go to germany I just buy a 10 euro simcard and stick into the phone. Done. No roaming or anything, it'll work like a phone bought in europe.

And yea I could buy an unlocked phone, ex iPhone, but i dont know :|

And damn, Samsung inov8 seems pretty sick as well lol

idk ._. I'll look at unlocked phones..

If you dont want to pay for 3G, I dont think MyTouch is an option. You have to get a data plan with T-Mobile to buy it from them.
And if you want a phone with Android OS that's unlocked, you're gonna be paying >$200

first off from my point of view, g1 is out of the question. the functions and everything is really appealing but the battery life sucks like shit, only realised when my bro got one in june last year. barely lasted him 6 hours without charging and let me tell you he isnt a heavy user at all.

    homebrew? windows mobile ftw seriously.

unlocked phones, chances are u will need to pay MORE!!!
