    Hi,

So, my English sucks, but I'm gonna try to make a tutorial about my personnal mod : the HGG MMT

    Specifications
Name : HGG MMT (Hybrid Gel Grip MoMenTum)
    Weight : About 15g
    Length : 19,3cm
    Kind : Single Sided
    COP = COG = COSS
    Pen modding : Quite easy

    Looks like

    Material

    1/ Pentel Superb G
2/ Pentel Hybrid Gel Grip (HGG)
3/ Uni-Ball Signo (of any kind)
4/ Something to glue : Superglue, Sticky tak...
    5/ Pilot Supergrip
    6/ Stabilo Colorgel
7/ Insert for the body (7,5cm x 2,5cm) and an outsert for the cap (3,2cm x 3cm) (OPTIONNAL)
8/ Piece of any narrow grip like Supergrip, Hyperjell, RSVP, HGG...
9/ Anyball/Star Gel Max (SGM)/Profile pieces cut as you want
10/ Something to cut : Pliers, X acto knife...
11/ Something to file and something thin and long (like a good sized brush)
Not included on the photo : tape for the outsert

    Step 1 : body
Undo the HGG and keep grip, tip, body and cap, you can put the inktube away... With a thin and long stem, remove the backplug from the HGG, put the insert in then re turn the backplug on.

    Step 2 : cap
Take the HGG cap and destroy the clip, and smooth it out, to have a perfect cylinder. You may also remove the colored piece. The plier is perfect for this step. Do exactly the same step with the Superb G cap. Put the Signo tip into the Superb G cap then put the HGG cap in, and press with the HGG to tighten. For the grips, put it as you want, I cut three pieces of Colorgel's grip off, and I re turn them on the cap, separed with some Anyball grip.
On the photo I don't show the grips, to show you the nested caps and the Signo tip.

Step 3 : grips in the front
Cut the striated part of Supergrip grip off and put it on in first. Put a ring of the narrow grip chosen. Cut the ring of the smooth part of the Supergrip grip and put it on. Now glue Colorgel's tip on the HGG's one. Then put your HGG's grip on. On its, put Anyball grips as you want.

    Step 4 : assembly
Wrap about 2cm of tape around the back of the HGG and put the cap on. The tape serves to hold the cap, thank to it the mod won't send itself in your face =)

    FINSH!!!

Edith Piaf : You can also cut the HGG cap on its top and put a X acto blade on with sticky tak ^^

Sorry again for my bad English, and enjoy happy.gif

    Yes.
It looks pretty nice, too many parts for me though.

Yes, there is a lot of grips, but when you get used with this mod, you don't have problem anymore ^^

there's 7.6 CM of spinning space on the pen shown in the picture. That's severely lacking.

Yes but you're not able to put the cap at the maximum. ^^ And as I said, it's a bit hard when you begin with this mod, but some time after, it's OK =)

What do you mean good place. you mean approved section or is the mod good enough...

First off, like chief snake said there is barely any spinning room. Why would anyone really want to spin something with such little room? you say that it's hard at first but easier later but because it's YOUR OWN personal mod, I think that your opinion is severely biased.

Second, there are a lot of things that appeal in a personal mod. Such as spinnability, efficiency of parts of use of spare parts, and aesthetic or visual appeal. The amount of parts needed is not the worst i have seen but the visual appeal is not speaking to me. Personally i think oyu should take off that g2 grip from the barrel and then thicken the front with grips or a cut cap to prevent the mod from looking uber big in the back and small in the front.

Third the visual appeal is decent. Not the best but decent.

It's best that you first post your mod in the "show off your pens" thread before posting a tutorial. This way people will request a tutorial for the mod if they like it and you will know that it will be well appreciated.

Finally, I think that the things that your mod needs to improve on MOST to get into the approved section will probably be aesthetic appeal and spinnability. The pics are a bit blurry too.

Okay, I'll be careful now ^^
The spinning space is about a KT's one.
I really now that my mod is not perfect, and I totally understand people don't like it, if moderators wanna lock it, I'll understand smile.gif

    I. aprooving tuuts is not based on wquality of mod, but instead quality of tuorial. Just because you don't like the specific made mod. You might like one with different color scheme, or mayb subbed grips (or removing front grips). I think it looks like a pretty good mod. I would mod it but don't have the parts. sad.gif

no, If I went by that, I could take a pencil, spam grips on it, and then make an amazing tutorial, and it would be approved.

uhmm sorry whats the function of putting a xacto blade at the hgg cap? i think it's dangerous

    Date: Tue, Apr 27 2010 16:52:09

    Hi!
Actually you can put an X-acto blade at the HGG cap to have a ''multifunction'' mod smile.gif You can make a cutgrip with it, cut pieces of a grip...
It is not dangerous if you attach the cap correctly wink.gif

@Nation : I don't know if your comment is about my mod or just about any mod, but I haven't taken a pencil and put lots of grip on it...
