pretty simple to understand if you know the expression Jack of All Trades, Master of None.
The more time you spend doing and learning various stuff, the less good you are at them.
For example, a decathlon athlete is decent at 10 sports, but wouldnt be able to compete with real pros.
Another example is in medecine, you have GP doctors who knows about the human body in general, but nothing specific, then when you require advanced knowledge, you go to an expert for that area such as back expert, skin expert, etc.
In academics same thing, someone making a PhD is the word's leader in a very specific topic that you spend 5 years researching on but its very in depth and specific. -
