UPSB v3
The Vault / UPSB 2nd Collab Information

As we have agreed last year, the main series of UPSB collab focus on pure spinning. In that sense, UPSB 2nd will also be a spinning showcase with no restriction: people simply submit their best combo.
I have however decided to add some small elements to the collab, mostly in terms of editing and unrelated to PS. In UPSB 1st, we saw the "fake intro" which shows the origins of UPSB. It also had the sidebar done correctly (unlike Minwoo )
For this collab, I propose to introduce 3 elements. They will not affect pen spinning, only editing.
1. Theme: What makes UPSB different from other communities, especially asian, is that we have a strong social community around the forum. People are here to discuss pen spinning and have fun doing so by talking to others. Therefore I propose that the theme of this collab to be light and fun. We shouldn't try to do super "cool" editing that looks so serious because it's not who we are and what we do. We are not pretentious: make it light, warm, simple, with a summer release. Make it funny as well.
2. "Fun" content: I am thinking of having 2 types of submission: real combos and fun stuff. People can submit their real combos as they would in regular collabs. Those combos will be evaluate by skill and only the best will make it in. We should be aiming at the same content time as last year, so around 3 minutes of spinning.
However, to get more people involved, we should allow fun entries as well. The idea here is that not everybody is an elite pen spinner, so to get more people in the collab, we allow entries that are not based by skill, but by how funny and interesting they are. Furthermore, anything goes as long as it is related to UPSB or pen spinning. It could be pictures or videos. Examples:
-> A funny failed combo
-> Spinning weird objects, in weird places, in weird situations, with weird angles, effects, etc...
-> Other manipulations (maybe if its really interesting)
-> Funny UPSB references
-> Gathering vids
-> Funny modding vids? Trading vids?
-> Anything funny
Those fun stuff should be very short; like 10 secs max. And we have cut those vids up to show only the funniest parts. Sound could be important, but its difficult because theres already music in a collab. The point is that watching 3-4 minutes of straight PS can be tiring, so having little fun vids can help keep the viewer's attention. Obviously there won't be a lot of them, we just pick the most funny ones and insert them between combos. I trust the community will be creative and submit funny stuff. The other idea is to encourage people that normally go on UPSB but don't film combos anymore a chance to do something fun and contribute to the collab. For example, me, kam, etc... I think just seeing people that you don't see in collabs normally would be interesting too, even if they don't do any PS. People should be able to submit as many stuff as they'd like.
3. Multiple edits: Because the above idea is risky, I don't know if it's gonna work well. So I propose the possibility to have 2 versions of the collab. The "short" version includes only the real combos and is more traditional and the "full" version contains the funny bits too. They don't even have to be edited by the same person.
4. Music: I have some good catchy jazzy music I want to use like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi0WQKDg1Y8 or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5hk3qU9Pgg
5. The collab should be released at the end of August, before school starts.

ahaha, I like the idea... promos usually focus more around the funnier aspect, but i agree with you on that upsb focuses on community/socializing a lot so something humorous would fit our personality
i have some ideas for funny stuff >:] since i doubt i'll make it in for spinning (or if i'll even try for that) loll
i like the second song btw =] -

I think a big part of UPSB that doesn't happen too often are gatherings. Maybe add in some like gathering videos to show that UPSB is a community that meets in real life and knows how to have fun.
There's also showing of faces. Promos have done that in the past and still do, albeit much seldomly, now. Maybe we can get a face of ours onto the next World Tournament web page. For some reason, it was always some random ass spinner from JEB. -

I think this would be a great and fun thing to do. It would allow new pen spinners to be in a major collaboration. (Like me. )

I'd just like him to cut back on altering the spinning in the video so much...he's a good editor, but sometimes his editing is distracting
