Board Comments / Restructuring the Media section

I think restructuring the video section can help motivate our spinners to get better.
Right now we have
Solo | Minor | Major | Signups
which is pretty basic.
In FPSB they have:
Official FPSB projects | Signups | Released FPSB collabs/tags | International collabs/tags
then they have an entire section dedicated to solo vids:
Solo -> where ppl post solo compilation for FPSB members
Non FPSB user movies -> where ppl post solo compilations for international spinners
Your videos -> where each FPSB spinner is allowed one thread, where they can post their own vids. It's kind of invididual SOYC threads.
Gathering vids should be put in the gathering section.
GPC is similar, with less emphasis maybe on seperating national with international spinners, but with the same idea of personal threads (database).
What would you suggest for UPSB? -

I guess if it'll motivate people then sure, but I personally don't see any productive difference, you're just posting the videos somewhere else instead

i think if every person is allowed their personal thread, they might feel more valued or less restricted -

It's not really needed. We can take the existing structure and basically enforce the one thread rule for each person within the solo thread. The real problem IMO is that most people only really comment on the better spinners and not really that much on the rest. So even if you had the personal threads, which some people do have already here, they would just get pushed down.
And it could be the overall atmosphere of this place. Shoutbox makes UPSB seem pretty informal and lots of derailment goes on.
But if the personal threads is truly needed, then it should be enforced from within the Solo section, just like in the trading section. -

I think some changes are good like seperate threads for gatherings but not to the point where each forumer has its own thread.

I actually wouldn't be opposed to having a section in media for gathring vids.
it's a major pain sifting through 8 pages of norcal thread talking about organizing, how it was, what everyone got, etc just to find the videos -

Now in UPSB have Single Member Videos, it's for SV, day sessions, and pro/beginner videos. I prefer to have SV in a separated forum/subforum, strictly SV only. Day sessions and combo show-off should still remain in Single Member Videos. And the SV forum will be a compilation of UPSB Solo videos and also from any other boards. Just put a tag like [UPSB], [PSH], [GPC] and etc. will help to make the search easier.
The international collab thing will not be necessary since UPSB is already a world/international board.
I don't think there is any need to create another new forum solely for UPSB projects/collabs, just put a Sticky thread with UPSB projects/collab index in the Collab forum will be nice.

Better spinners' thread always getting hotter and hotter and probably become something like about 80% of posts in the thread are actually just feedback/comment from others and only 20% are video posts. Then common spinners threads are not active, then posters get no motivation to post more videos, and their thread get pushed down.
Or another possible effect is posters want to get their threads stay on top or first page, so they post a lot of videos that their combo videos almost become spam.QUOTEGathering vids should be put in the gathering section.
A separated forum/subforum for gathering reports is also great. I mean like when gathering is over and the video(s) of the gathering are done, a new thread is opened to post the gathering videos and photos, some reports or information about the gathering(probably done by the organizer) like... when was the gathering and how many attended and also some other extras and funny things from the gathering. Other attendees can also add some photos that they took themselves at the gathering.
For gathering organising thread that already over, it should be locked and sinked when the report/video thread is created. Any new discussion of the gathering should be done in new thread.
If don't like too many forums/subforums, then just put tag like [Coming soon] or [Report] to differentiate before and after gathering threads. As for the "coming soon" should be edited to "Over" after the gathering or after topic locked.
Anyway, i support a separated section for gathering videos since there are many gathering threads in UPSB.
