well i usually spin whenever I'm doing something else, but I find that I spend most of my practice time during school though I'm not sure if that counts as practice lol

Determination. The only wayy your going to get better is by practicing pen spinning.
Because you can be determined in something you dont like doing
When i was a Newb..... i would learn a new trick have a happiness spasm? o.o -

I'm facing a similar problem now, I just spin casually everywhere I go, I wait and hope that I'll get a trick just like that. I'll pravtice tricks but after a few failed attempts I give up. I wanna' improve too.

remember how good it is to learn a new trick and use that as a reason to keep going, and watch other spinners videos on youtube that always inspires me to practice

I actually got to a point in which is difficult to keep improving this way. I learned all the basics and can do a feel power tricks: backfall 1.5 (2.0 occasionally), hai tua (double hai tua more rarely) and up to 7 busts, but it's been this way for the last 6 months. I'm not sure why I lost motivation, but i'm working on it, maybe I should try new concepts or something like that.
