Counter tricks are tricks that are interupted by their reverse form in the middle of the trick.

Such as: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Re7G8kVovT4...feature=related <- Counter Sonic

for what it's worth, I believe the FPSB has a different definition of counters than we do

counters here (if I'm not mistaken anyway) have to be a trick interrupted by the FINGERLESS reverse.

IE: TA ~> Fl TA Rev

So what's in that video wouldn't really be considered a counter here.

Though again, might need another person to back me up on that, not 100% certain

Again, I dont' know what FPSB considers to be counters, but on UPSB (i believe zombo started it), it's as strat said... it's a trick that is interrupted by the fl reverse version of the trick

and for clarification, it's not TA > FL TA rev, it's as strat notated it, it's TA ~> FL TA rev, the TA isn't completed

after thinking about it for a long time i found a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x0U8c2WnqM
i think that both the French version and the one here are counters but just from a different "base"
counters are just like the starting move and then reverced together to make a hybrid or combo.

@spinzpro, you keep linking to french videos lol.

Here on UPSB, a counter is BY DEFINITION, a trick interrupted by its fingerless reverse. So if it's not that, then it's not a counter.

    ohmy.gif so complicated...
is it possible to FL TA ~> FL TA rev for example?

Not exactly the best example of a counter TA, but this works:

Also, in lots of modern advanced spinning you see LOTS of counter IA's and MA's and such

most ppl do counter tricks wrong, they execute the real trick for too long before reversing it.

there should be only one real finger push, the second push is always fingerless.

for the counter TA, theres no thumb push to reverse, the pen is actually jammed at the base of the thumb and the index and using a fingerless motion to reverse

these are the original videos I filmed to introduce the concept

note: most of the vids are cut short by youtube, you need to donwload them

Is a reverse into a FL normal still considered a counter? ie: TA reverse~> FL TA

yeah it's just "TA Rev Counter" (check zombo's last video in post above yours)

So essentially, the counter is not a trick in itself, its like a modification of tricks, kinda like a reverse w/e?

A counter is a hybrid of two tricks. This is pretty common (Demon's sonic, swivel, etc), basically a "nickname" for an otherwise unwieldy way to say it.

Meaning it's easier to say "Man, i loved the TA counter in your vid!!!"

than it is to say "man i loved the FL Ta ~> FL TA Rev in your vid!!!"
