get ur charge down and sonic/rev sonic, then fingerpass and reverse fingerpass cause passes are a vital part of any combo but first learn sonic normal/reverse in all slots [til u can do sonic fall/rise consistently] and thumbaround and reverse thumbaround bla bla

for a mod bictory or comssa or something should be fine.. alot of people say MX but they are unbalanced so i dont really recommend them blink.gif i guess because kam made it its OMG SO SPECIAL or whatever, idk. its best to start out light though so like ballsign or just a pencil should be okay, and will help you learn charge well and will be easier with a mod

ur gonna wanna aim for something evenly weighted but not too heavy, basically

my first mod, personally, was an unsharpened #2 pencil with 2 bic caps with the clips cut off on each end laugh.gif

then after u've got all the fundmantals, u can link them for hybrids, I.E rev charge/charge + pass/rev pass = twisted sonic/warped sonic and etc!

by then ull have a pretty good grasp of pen spinning and can learn at ur own pace

i recommend learning several tricks at any one time, atm im learning swivel, palmspin AND bak fall so i make more progress and dont get bored as fast as learning 1 trick at a time. im also learning reverse fingerpass because i never bothered with it before blush.gif

In the end, it all comes down to one thing... PRACTICE!!!

Also, look for Eso's vids on youtube, he speaks clearly and gives good tips on basic tricks and lower level hard tricks

edit: ur in america, so definitely make a bictory. put g2/rsvp grips at the end if its too light ^^

i think bic pen is very helpful, when i learn some fundamental i used bic pen and in 1 month i can mastered fundamental and the reverse of fundamental. i think you must learn that trick 5 hours/day like me

Well yeah, I've started 2-3 days ago (in class I just started to try, and got the hang of it)
    I've tried:
Finger Pass (the only one I can even moderately do)
Charge (no idea how? I've watched so many tutorials and can never do it)
Thumbaround (couldn't do this either, maybe with lots of practise I could)

    Anyway, to the point
    I can do ~20-25 finger pass's a minute?
the first few movements are smooth, but when its going back towards my thumb it starts failing, also it gets caught on my ring finger alot, any ideas on how to prevent this?
how long would it take for me to do this smoothly (not speedy, just smooth)

EDIT: because it keeps getting caught on my ring finger on the return I have a habit of pulling the pen down with my thumb to continue the spin, I don't think it slows me down too much at the moment, but in the long run it'd be bad, should I force myself not to do that, or do that until I can do all the other parts of the trick smoothly, then learn to do it without help from my thumb? Without using my thumb I do 20-25 per minute, with my thumb I do about 30

Learn Charge first then master your fingerpass and sonic. You would probably want a Bictory/RSVP V1/RSVP MX/Comssa/Metal Comssa to start off with. I recommend learning more sonic and around variations. After doing that, master the fundamentals and try to learn advanced tricks. I don't know how long you should practice but maybe around 1-2 tricks a day if you really want to learn tricks as fast as you can O_o. I also agree with Oats that Eso's tutorials are probably the best xD. Just keep on practicing laugh.gif

Sometimes your finger always refuses to do something. Just keep on doing it everyday and focus on that finger. wink.gif

Here the order of fundamental tricks you should learn IMO: TA, CHARGE, SONIC, FP, TAREV, CHARGEREV, SONICREV, FPREV.

But again, that's only my opinion. May luck be with you ^^.

Thank you Oats. I've been following what you recommended. I'm currently using an improvised mx instead of a bictory. I've been working on the sonic and rev sonic. So far, I've gotten the pressureless sonic pretty much mastered. But, I'm having trouble with the rev sonic. Any tips?

how can i learn new tricks of pen spinning for the least period of time?

i can't follow some of the basic tutorials on youtube

Could have shouted this on the SB. The main thing to do is practice practice practice. Not blindly, see where and when you fumble with the trick and watch slomo videos of other spinners to see what they are doing that is right. Yo can do it!

First off this is the wrong section.
Second off get a good slow-motion program it helps bunches.

Practice. LOTS. More quality time you invest the better you'll get, faster. =]

Try to find someone around you who can teach you, that helps as well. Constantly push yourself to practice and perfect old tricks and learning new linkages.

MASTER the fundamentals and mapped & reverse, the more tricks you have the more linkage you can learn.

Learn linkages be creative make your own, learn some power tricks PRACTICE.
