Wikipedia: Metrosexual, a portmanteau of metropolitan and sexual, is a neologism of the 2000s one definition of which is a man (especially one living in a post-industrial, capitalist culture) who has a strong concern for his appearance or a lifestyle that displays attributes stereotypically associated with homosexual men.

Urban Dictionary: A normally straight male who possesses qualities of a gay male without being attracted to men. A metro often appreciates the finer things in life and enjoys making himself look good; be it through styling his hair or wearing fashionable clothes.

I really like fashionable clothes which may be considered metro / gay. I don't want to be labeled as gay but I like good style. :/

i dont even know why there's a word for this. it's such a misnomer. the clothes you wear and the way you act has nothing to do with your sexuality.

I think that definition is just horrible.

Taking from the word roots, it should be less of a comparison to homosexual men and more of a comparison to the opposite gender.
While it may be true that the lifestyle of gay men and the lifestyle of women are arguably interchangeable, that only applies to Western society, thus only making this a correct definition in one instance.
I'm sure in ancient Greek societies, when homosexuality was rampant, the gay men didn't act like women, they acted like men.

A metrosexual is anyone who has interests which are, in the society that they are a part of, tied to the opposite gender.
A guy who sews and cooks, yet doesn't care about his appearance at all, should still be considered metrosexual >_>

Anyways, I didn't think that people actually considered metrosexuality an actual sexuality, because that's what Shadow's post is implying ._.
It is a portmanteau, after all.

they dont think of it because they know what it means. before they know what it means, they have to find out what it means, and the misnomer gives the word a negative connotation.

the name does not implying homosexuality just because it has theh word sexual in it... the name is fine... theres no gay connotation in it

it would if it was metrogay or homometro.

i dont mean it implies homosexuality, it just implies a sexuality, a sexuality being other than hetero. not a gay connotation, just one many people wouldn't like. besides, whether it's negative or not, the word still makes no sense.
i just find from experience that metrosexuals (as it's defined) generally don't like being called that. also, when they dont know what it means, it sounds like an insult, because as i said, it sounds like another type of sexuality.

    i find "feminine" suffices
