General Discussion / When did you start doing combos?

Simple question - when did you start doing combos? I mean the longer ones, not just two trick combo heh. For example when did you start challenging others in battlezone etc.
Yeah and I mean "when" like how long have you been penspinning when you started to perform combos. Also telling me what you've been already able to do (at least some harder tricks would be nice).
Cause I spin for 1+ month and HELL I am looking forward to this -

i would wait alittle while longer to start battling and participating in collabs. honestly i look back on when i first started to do combos and participated in collabs and i SUCKED. (heck i still suck) hone your skills more, maybe show off some combos in the show off combos thread if you must.
a really good example is Asian Tim who blasted into the scene with his first member video. everyone was so surprised it was great. lol. -

4 months I started, I started off pen spinning slow and have jsut lurned about half of my tricks in the past 3 months so I didn't have that many tricks to do before had... now I can do mebe 20 trick combos and I still have to catch up on all the tricks I enver learned...

You can't really do long combos until you have a good number of tricks in your arsenal. Well, you can, they'd just be very boring. One month is definitely not enough. The best combo I could do then was a sonic rise harmonic.
I say, learn twisted sonic and its variations before doing any combos. To me, they're like a pen spinning staple. -

seconded
By about 5 or 6 months I was able to make decent length combos. Twisted sonic and variations are key tho because there are so many possible smooth linkages. -

Oh, I was seconded by pho. :] Listen to pho, he's a great pser and has amazing twisted sonics.
I also started having decent length combos at 5/6 months. Which was just month ago.... -

i must've started after .... six months of penspinning
one reason it took me forever was because i wasn't very serious about penspinning then lol.
mainly because i didn't even know that ucpsb existed so i never made an account. -

a week after i started penspinning, i just repeated this lame combo of:
Sonic Fall > Sonic Rise > TA harmonic > Backaround > Backaround Reverse > Shadow 12-12 > TA.
But I only started doing real combos when I was about 5-6 month. Before that I just 'spammed' stuff without planning. -

I started n00b comboing" after learning fundamentals. It was just like "hey, if I connect that trick to that trick it looks pretty cool"
Slightly more standard stuff popped out around 5 months for me (i was slow) -

After pen spin for 2mth+ almost 3mths, I find that my trick list is still very limited.
I can only do simple combos. Didn't plan it of course, normally will spam twisted sonic variation(agree with the both of them up there) which really helps improving combo, sonic rise fall harmonic, infinities, bak(still suck with ring and pinky), sonic inverse, thumb around, thumb flap charge reverse.
Think that's about it.
Hoping that I can pick up more tricks. Ya, I had think of joining a collab or making own solo vid, but really, for threat starter 1mth is totally not enough. Unless you practive 24/7. Haha... -

Novastrike THANKS for you post, thats exactly what every newbie would probably like to know. Gonna make a list of these tricks and just cross those I can do at least to some extent heheQUOTE (Novastrike @ Dec 11 2007, 10:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Unless you practive 24/7. Haha...
Yeah I need a more practice cause I sometimes just didn't really practice and I just want to become "good" really soon. Since the start of this week I started to practice harder (doesn't really mean more, but I just more think of what I need to learn..) -
