UPSB v3

Board Comments / Proposition: Dichotomy of the Spammer's Bin

    Ok here's a solution I have found.

The idea is simple, we create two Off-topic section.

One will simply be called Off-topic and its purpose will be closer to UPSB2's off-topic section; to provide a place for spinners to discuss topics other than pen spinning (and manips). That means the topics should have at least some usefulness and generate some discussion. Also the topics here should be free of any sensitive issue. So for example "What's your favourite ..." threads would go well here, same for Head Shotz and other stuff like that.

The second one is the original spammer's bin, and it here (almost) anything go. In other words, its the pit of UPSB. You can post all your random ass spam threads and any other meaningless threads. You can also post "grey area" threads in there. There would be a clear label on the section that says "Enter at your own risk, if you're offended by anything in here, it's your problem" or something. Of course we still moderate for flagrant discriminatory remarks and porn / shock images / links. Just because it's moderation-free doesn't mean you should exploit it to offend people at a maximum.

But the main reason is to "clean up" the current spammer's bin so that it is less cluttered with random spam threads for no good reason and to provide spinners with a free forum.

    Yes or no?

    I'm okay with that.

does this mean that no matter how offended you are.. you can't report it?

The point of it is, if you're offended, don't go in there anymore because you can still discuss off-topic in the other section.

    I'm fine with the idea.

EDIT: To what extent is flaming other members tolerated? I mean just personal flaming, not religious or whatever.

no, you can't flame other members, or use this forum to talk thrash behind someone's back if you know they're not visiting this forum

    I kinda can't decide.
1 - If you really do it, then NO don't allow to get post count by talking in offtopic (you didn't mention changing that, so np), because so far the post count is one of the most useful post counts in here - you can't really "be active" in penspinning forums unless you know penspinning, so the possibility of having a guy with 300 posts that is here for 1 month is imo impossible.
2 - Being called "spammers bin" is a great plus for any discussion in a small community with no idiots that really just spam the topics (never seen that here, so yeah). You don't have to care about being blamed for stupid topic, you can pretty much do many things without being aware of if it is a useful post for the topic. These times new people to internet don't get this - if there is a serious thread, i really means you have to seriously say something, not just say "I agree", unless that is what you're expected to say but the people who care about this might be relieved with the possibility of just posting one word post

All I can think of now

1- uhhh of course post won't count... same as the current spammer's bin.
2- uhhh your replies still can be not very serious cuz its spammer's thread, but theres a difference between threads that are pure spam, and ones that actually require an opinon...

I won't allow any personal flaming that I see, that isn't obviously joking around, which is what I've been doing so far.

alright well it's done, we'll see how it goes, if it doesn't work out, then we'll switch back to the old style

just remember, just because we have two forums, doesn't mean you can now suddenly abuse it.
