Advanced Tricks / Continuous Midback 1.5

ellusion made a topic on midback, but I want a topic specifically for discussion of the middle backaround 1.5, since the difference in linkages between midbak and midbak 1.5 are quite large.

Currently, I can do individual midbak 1.5, but i can't link them consistently at all (midbak 1.5 x2 every 100 tries)

i think it's all about the pen being in the correct spot while it's spinning. if it's on the top of the middle finger then i think it's the correct spot. i managed to get 4 1.5 midbaks (XD not so good but still) by just keeping the pen spinning on one spot every time i do midbak 1.5. it also requires moving the hand back when you're about to do the second midbak 1.5.

and of course the other method is to steal the sharingan from kakashi and copy it from biungek! biggrin.gif

I'm the same as Mhig, my record is four. I just watched some of cloudys videos or Vicgotgame's. I haven't done them in ages though because I stopped using my pen that actually had some momentum. I have the pen right next to my middle finger when I link to the next one, and your middle finger should be nearer to the back end when doing it as well. Just watch videos, once you watch enough you should be able to pick it up.

sometimes video angles suck though because i can't catch the more subtle movements and motions of the hand.....

I just got 2 !!!!! can't do it anymore though

lol it must've taken me .... 1 month to get it 3 times in a row lol
i think it all depends on how much you work on it. i wasn't too serious about it then sad.gif
if you just do midbak 1.5 cont. for like a week you should be able to do 3 by the end (probably depending on how long you spend working on the trick)

I have a question, where does the pen actually spin for the extra 0.5 revolution? I kept doing MidBaks instead of Midbak 1.5

I think on the back of the middle finger.

Most of spin either happens on the back of the hand, or on the side of the middle finger, depending on how I perform it. tongue.gif

Seeing Mhig do the continuous midbak 1.5 x5 made me reminded me of something.
my question is when you (anyone) does continuous midbak 1.5's after the first one
do you kind of catch the pen in 23, like pinching it subtly to keep it controlled?
or do you just keep your middle finger raised and do it, without the subtle pinching?
just wondering, so maybe it will help me with this.

yes there is a slight pinching in 23, the pinching makes it so the trick can be repeated, or cont.
Or so thats how it is with me. tongue.gif

ok thanks, when you do it i cannot see the pinch, but i am guessing that the ever so slight pause with the pinch gets smoother and appears to disappear as you get better. correct?

correct, also the pinch feeling will go away as you get better. wink.gif

That reminds me, I always wondered why the cont bak rev doesn't have a pinch while a cont bak does.

    Can't do it consistently though.

Hey, can anyone teach me tips on how to do it? I've been practicing it already for 5 mos. and still don't get it wtf? dry.gif It annoys me that some people can do it while they have just practiced it in like 2 mos, 2 weeks, 1 month etc etc....while I have been practicing it for 5 mos and still haven't got it =/ I can't do cont bak either...I can only do 2 of them..and it's a lucky try if I could do 2 cont bak or 2 cont mid bak 1.5

Can you do a midbak 1.5 consistently?

First, you should try performing a midbak 1.5 but move your hand while it's spinning so that when you catch it, you can execute another midbak 1.5 without readjusting the pen. Perform another midbak 1.5 and repeat what you'd done before. Keep practicing it like this until you get the hang of it and try to lessen the pause between each mid bak 1.5. After a lot of practicing, you should be able to do it smoothly and continuously.

    Hopefully, it's somewhat understandable.

So i randomly saw this thread, tried midback 1.5 and managed to do 3 continuous perfectly on my first try...i've been trying to do it again for the past 20 minutes and i cant even do 1 consistently now. Talk about a total fluke lol.

Remember to tuck the middle finger down (so it's more level with the 134) while it's spinning on top, i find it helps a little.

huh.gif That is quite a fluke. 3 on the first try is crazy. Midbak 1.5s take a long time to get good at.

And when you do the midbak 1.5 you move your hand in the correct manner so that you can perform another midbak1.5 right after?

The pinch is basically a very short catch. It disappears once you get better at cont tricks.
