Off-topic / How to gain weight in a healthy manner?

I'm turning 16 soon and I'm quite the skinny guy. I'm 5'6 and 102 pounds. My BMI (Body Mass Index) is 16.8, which is the borderline between anorexia and underweight. I need a BMI of 20-24 to be healthy. Anyone have any way of dieting/exercising to gain weight? I have a proper diet of 3 full meals and snacks. Eat greens and try to avoid junk. But my metabolism isn't really normal. I'm not much of an exercising and quite weak. I bike around once a week. Wouldn't exercising just get rid of my calories, thus making me lose weight? Is it even possible for a skinny guy like me to loose more weight with a proper diet and too much exercising. I can go biking more often any time, but when would be an idea time? Before dinner, so I'm hungry and will eat more? Or After dinner, to burn out the calories, and how long should I wait before/after I exercise? Also, If I want to be stronger and taller, what type of exercises should I do at the gym? I heard working out during your teen years slows down your growth. After seeing a buff midget in my school, I believe it even more.

Eat a lot of protein. Exercising burns calories, but yet you gain muscle depending on your exercise.

Fuck the numbers that tell you, "You need 'such and such' percent to be healthy." They're nonsense. If you're thin, so what. Deal with it. Stop trying to gain weight, because in a few years you're going to pray for the evaporation of plenty of extra flab. Are you so impatient that you want to speed the process up? I don't think so. Do you think girls will like you if you gain more weight? They won't. It's worthless. Stop being an idiot.

you want to do hard, short duration exercises to put on weight, that will cause your muscles to grow big, where as something like biking makes your muscles more lean since for that kind of stuff big muscles will slow you down, so your body will avoid putting on lots of weight usually if you do to much cardio.

I don't think you can do much about height, thats based on genetics, just cuz you saw a buff midget doesn't mean anything, its just that a midget is buff.

Also read what Surge has to say, although you might have your reasons to want to be bigger, so you're the only one to decide if its worth it to try and put on extra weight or not.

Eat more, less frequently. And exercise to build mass, and only every other day. Calculate how much calroies you burn a day, and how much you need to eat extra to gain fat if you want to do it that way.

You sound like you tried what I asked and failed.

btw I don't understand what you mean to pray for the evaporation of plenty of extra flab.

Eventually your metabolism will slow down, you'll get fat and you'll have tons of problems trying to get rid of it.

@Clyde, no such thing as an 8 pack tongue.gif people can only get up to a 6 pack haha...

And yes, it's as nate said, you can't get a 6pack just cause your father had a 6pack, but genes helps sometimes... some people have a better metabolism, better genes that can help them get muscle, etc... it's not exactly father has 6pack so the son will, but rather the father can easily get a 6pack, so the son might have an easier time getting a 6pack too
