nono that was taken out of context. The slide was to show that AT&T users have the choice to upgrade to the iPhone 4 6 months early.

    + Great Design
    + Great Hardware
    + Improved Software
    ======================
    - No Adobe Flash
    - Pay to Tether or Hotspot
    - AT&T is a fucking rip off
    - New Data plan that REQUIRES you to only have up to 2GB of download. Anything over and you have pay hardcore.
    ======================

I'll stick with sprint and the EVO 4G thanks.

Pretty good hardware update. Way better than that last year. I still think the most important update is the firmware update, which will finally allow multitasking. Also iAd and the Game Center seem like great initiatives to support app-developement.

theres already multitasking... example: I start timer, go in another app, timer still runing.

but multitasking in the sense of multiple windows at same time... why do you want that? screen is so smal...

They only allow multitasking with Apple's own apps right now. iPhone OS 4 will allow it for all programs. They will not allow having multiple windows open at the same time though. It might be something just I am excited about, but I have so many games I never play, because I can't listen podcasts while playing them. Also it means that you can have music programs like Pandora running while using other apps.

As TheOnion pointed out, multitasking is possible for some of Apples own apps (for instance the Music Player) but there is no option for 3rd party apps (not unless you have a jailbreak and proswitcher). With the firmware 4.0 update come new limitations, yet again no "true" multitasking as you see it on the Symbian OS or Android. (I know about the "background finishing" mode for downloads. Maybe hackers will make use of this again).

    Fun Fact:
Running and X-Server with multiple windows is possible on the n900, but as you pointed out - for a mobile phone it would disrupt the workflow and make things more complicated.

2topic - I like the phone. It looks great and I would love to buy it... but there are 3 dealbreakers for me:
    - iOS (I would prefer Android or Maemo)
    - No removable battery. (Battery dead? Kaching!)
    - No physical keyboard. (I dislike onscreen keyboards. I can't type blind while walking when using such a phone.)

Expecting them to change the Operating system is a dead request. It can't be an iPhone if it doesn't run its own OS.
But why do you preder Android or Maemo over iOS? iPhone OS came first = waaaayyyyy more apps.
Android's community is growing but obviously not fast enough, and nobody gives a fuck about Maemo.

actually iPhone base version is 200$, so there's no price hike. Why? There's not a lot different about this iPhone than others, aside from the looks and the general upgrades to OS4, Camera, case, etc. etc.

The only reason I would never get it is because of AT$T. Capped data? Nothx. I'd rather use Windows Mobile 6.5 on Sprint.

All service providers cap their data, they have to.
You just might not know the exact number, which is information that's withheld in their marketing because there's a good chance that you'll never reach it.
Unless, of course, you're like me and use SymTorrent and download stuff all the time, but your battery will run out before you could reach the cap, not to mention 3G speeds would make reaching the cap even harder.

And AFAIK, WinMo is an obsolete POS. But that's just what I've heard.

Maybe because Android is open source and you can do so much more with it than iOS?
Sure it has a lot more apps but I think that has to do with the fact that Android was released in whispers, not like the first version of iOS in which the whole world knew about it in one day.

    Exactly.
Android is much better than iOS.
But when it actually comes down to it, having a better operating system that can't do anything is a lot worse than having the one that has the larger community supporting it.

Open Source = developers are free to make applications...if they want to.

The chance of a developer wanting to make an application is a lot higher with a larger community (obviously)
Despite not even being open source, the ratio of iPhone apps to Android apps is 20:3.

I think you exaggerate this... There are many "apps" for Android and I can't think of one useful app that is iPhone exclusive. (Not talking about games here - this point obviously goes to apple).
Due to the size of the appstore, many developers want to make cash fast and code some crappy stopwatch, selling it for 3$ and since its the Apple appstore - they only get a fraction of the true profit their apps gain.
Also - guess why there are no emulators in the appstore. Apple has to approve everything, making the appstore everything but free. (Again I know of cydia, I have it installed too.)

I know that. That's kind of the main reason why I play games on my iPod, to have something to do while listening to podcasts, audiobooks and such. But many games does not allow it. As it has been presented, the multitasking in iPhone OS 4 will allow one to always play music while using apps.

No, there has been no indication on this so far. The only announcement regarding music was about Pandora Radio and other apps for music listening that will behave like the built-in music player. Still, its most likely that most apps are going to use their own music and suppress other mediaplayers.
By the way - this is probably the thing that annoys me most about my ipod touch. Now I use my phone again to listen music. The audio quality is even better and it has direct support for last.fm. FUCK YEAH Nokia. 100% better bass on my Sennheiser CX300II.

Most of the gaming perks we can look forward to will be available June 21, when iPhone OS 4 (now called iOS4) hits the App Store. With that, iPhone 3GS users (and eventually iPhone 4 users) will have access to multitasking, so no more losing your place because you get a phone call. You can also listen to apps like Pandora while playing a game, and everything should play your mp3s without a problem.
