Whenever I go to set my personal photo or avatar, and I browse files, and I select waht I want, and then hit "update";
Firefox actions retarded and says:
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I've tried this on Opera too but I get a similar error message.
Help?
The only reason I have an avatar is because I used one from a site which seems to work fine.
EDIT: I'm using a .jpg pic btw -

Have you tried a different browser yet? 99% of the time that'll fix something like this, and especially since it's just a one-time thing, that'd be my first step.

try uploading your pic to photobucket or imageshack and referring it from there.
i tried uploading a pic from my computer for the personal photo before, and i got the same error. then i put it on photobucket and it worked fine. dont know if it'll work though, this was a while ago lol -

i think i did something similar to kaku, try uploading to imageshack or something, and tehn resaving it onto your computer
maybe the file's too big? i dunno, but sometimes resaving it off of imageshack sometiems works =\ -

What do you suggest I do now? -

This worked for me:
Using MS Paint, open the picture you want to use. On the top, click Image>Stretch/Skew, shrink the picture, then save as something else if you want to keep the original picture. This results in a smaller file size, which was the problem for me even though UPSB didnt actually say it was the problem.
Hope this helps -

Holy shet Blah's right. Works for me now ^^
Alright I think I know why now. If you try to edit a pic and leave it in paint (like I did) it ends up as a pretty big file. So using a combination of JC's and Blah's methods is best. Save as a jpg and upload/download again from photobucket if oyu need to as long as the pic is less than 50 kb.
