IRC Chat / How to access our chatroom

Our chatroom's current address is #UPSB on the irc.quakenet.org server.

You can access the chatroom by either using a standalone IRC client such as mIRC or by using our integrated chat client (Requires Java).

    ALTERNATIVE LINK: http://z15.invisionfree.com/UCPSB/index.php?showforum=29

    * #UCPSB is functional but is slowly being phased out due to the IRC client pointing to #UPSB.

Are we still going to use the same Chat room?

#UPSB is being made as we speak, but it doesn't matter really... (I'm not even running the chats)

It's just that I don't like opening up a browser just to chat. I like opening up Chatzilla and just typing whatever into the bar, but I forget what the code thing whatever is. I got into it a couple of times.

if you don't want to use a browser, download an IRC client like mIRC.

Glad to see that someone else uses chatzilla. happy.gif

When you open up ChatZilla, in the text box (where the chat appears) look for the "QuakeNet" link and click it. Then just type in /join #upsb.

i dont know if you know, but even #FPSB is dead so... I dont use irc anymore

Not quite. We revived it something like a year ago. There are times when we're less than 10 people in the chatroom sure, some may consider this as a dead chatroom. But we still often have nice conversations.

    QUOTE (Zombo @ Nov 7 2009, 05:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
if you revive it, i will come back

i guess we should put back the quiz bot...

Actually I'm everyday in #UPSB @ QuakeNet. There's not much to do if we would like to revive it. Just come.
Maybe some advertising would be appropriate too.

One thing that really annoys me is people who comes in the chatroom, notice that we're something like 10 people here, says "wow there's nobody here I'm not staying bye". If this random guy stayed in the chatroom, the next random guy who'd come would have a lower probability to react this way, more people being in the chatroom, hence he maybe would stay, and so on.
So if you want a chatroom to be filled with poeple, stay in even if there's not that much folks in there at the time.

And having an IRC client running isn't that expensive for the computer, so what does it cost you to idle even if you don't want to be chatty all the time.
