I've been trying to free style for a while now, but I just fall back into comfortable mini-combos.
I want my stuff to be different every time! Something new and unique every time I pick up my pen.
But, I just fall back into a mini-combo rut. bangHead.gif

    Any tips on free styling?

just learn some simple linkages like
    twisted sonic 34-23 -> sonic 23-12

just learn a lot of those and then eventually you'll get used to it and it'll become your freestyle biggrin.gif

But I know so many, I thought I could do it.
I mean, I know every Twisted Sonic variation, and that still doesn't help.
All that's left now are some hybrids. D:

Even then, I'll do stuff like
    Warped Sonic 12-23 > Sonic Rev 23-34 > Pass 34-23 > Twisted Sonic Bust 23-12

    OVER AND OVER.
I just wanted to know if there was something I could do in terms of breaking this repeating nightmare.

Try to do it slowly first, and you will get used to the twisted sonic variations.
And you will naturally perform it without you knowing...

For now, what I am doing is, I am trying to learn combos from other spinner, and I think, eventually I will get ideals for my own combos...
Yea, the breakdown request thread is very useful, use it, learn from all the pen spinners!!!

It's not very hard to learn twisted sonic variations as long as you have your charges and passes down. Why not learn your arounds? Backarounds? Shadows? Hybrids? Spamming twisted sonics (and variations) only look nice to non-psers anyway.

Add Top Spin tricks / hybrids instead of Twisted Sonics.

I personally think it looks nice when well done and well linked.

Throw in some infinities, wipers, and isonics. Practice going from spins to infinities, map hybrids to different fingers, etc...

Take what you know, and do it a bunch of different ways. Just let then pen do what it wants to do, follow what feels natural.

Or, make up combos as you go, and start practicing them and adding on to them. Start with a trick, do it a couple times, add a trick, do them both a couple times... etc etc.

    Just spin.

Well wuht I would say is to just experiment. Notice the types of tricks you do w/o thinking of doing and add a little spice to it. Free-styling is basically doing a session w/o thinking of wuht you're gonna do. Just practice new tricks, find which trick flows w/ which, and just keep in mind to try something new.

when i freestyle i try to keep in mind tricks that i don't normally do or see
then when im freestyling i just throw those in there somewhere
i usually have like 4 or 5 tricks like this.

    This is the best advice.
