Its that time of year again lets go!
Just tell me when ya'll are having vacation 'til and I'll figure out the rest!
We plan on making the gathering at the Park next to the Brea mall and eat at any of the restaurants nearby.
Assuming from what happened at the last 2 gatherings we're just going to hang out, spin, chill, crack open some beers, light up a bowl.... errr forget the last two. Pretty mellow gathering.
Any suggestions?

I think we have too many people near the LA area to have everyone drive up to Santa Barbara. I don't mind giving people a ride, but I don't think my car can fit everyone.
I would offer to give the people in SB a ride, but on second thought...that would not work. I'd have to drive up 4 hours (San Diego to SB), back 2 hours (SB to LA), up another 2 hours to drop you off, and down another 2 hrs (back to LA, where I can stay at a friend's place). That's like...uh...10 hours of driving (probably less, but still), which doesn't leave much time for anything else.
Hypotetically speaking, if we could get everyone from LA in my car, and all their parents give them permission to take off with a stranger (lol), then it would 4 hours up, then 2 hours back...which isn't as bad. But that would also require the people in SB to arrange a place for the gathering, which is pretty last minute.
At least at Brea, we've already got a couple gatherings, and we've found a good place for the gathering (assuming it doesn't rain).
Perhaps you guys can find a way to take a train or coaster down to somewhere closer? Then I don't mind picking you guys up.

Can we do a head count on who's going? So we don't end up waiting for people in the food court forever...lol.
Also, who needs a ride (that's not too far from Brea Mall)? PM me you address and I'll see if it's on my way or if it's not too out of the way. I can't promise anything though. It doesn't look like I'll have a place to stay in LA this time (my friend is out of town), so I'll have to drive up there and back to San Diego the same day...which means I have to save my energy...can't drive more than 6 hours
Anyways...rather than spending my time designing and printing an insert for the gathering this year, I figure we can try something different and more fun. So I started working on a new project that should be pretty interesting, specially with plenty of pen spinners. What is it? It's a surprise I'm actually still developing the idea and will need everyone's help at the gathering to test this new "project". But I've been playing with the concept for a week and it's already shown great results.
So bring your pens and skills and we'll have some fun.

Yeah...don't sweat it...looks like there might be enough people further north to make a gathering near Santa Barbara. I'm thinking...summer...beach...underwater spinning? o_O lol
But that's something to discuss at a future time.

There's still a flood watch alert going on here in San Diego, and I heard the weather is getting bad in Orange County.
Anyways...I'll check the news in the morning. If there's really bad flood going on in LA or San Diego, then I'm gonna stay in San Diego...it'll be too risky to drive in those conditions and get stuck in the freeway if my car stops. And I would suggest everyone to stay at home too if there's flood going on. Safety is the most important thing right now, and I would hate it if something bad happened to a pen spinner because they were trying to make it to a gathering.
I know school starts soon for a lot of you, but we can still do a gathering on a weekend, or over spring break. I didn't think the weather was gonna be so serious, but people are being cautious and treating it almost as serious as the fire of a few months ago. I already have my emergency evacuation bags packed again.
But we'll see...so far the weather hasn't been as bad as they predicted. I'm still hoping on being a great day for a gathering though -

We're referring to the new "project" that I introduced to everyone at the beginning of the gathering. You actually left as we were starting the first round, so you didn't get the full experience of the project (sry ), but you did get the benefit of its concept.
Thanks to everyone's feedback, there were some minor changes that needs to be made to the rules. So I asked everyone to keep this within ourselves until I get a chance to type everything out and release it. Besides...the concept mostly applies only to gatherings or situations where many pen spinners are together. -
