Well it was just on air (RTL, Guiness show of World records)... Le0n and Alucard from GPC made the World record in Fingerpassing.
How many Fingerpasses can you make in one Minute. Le0n set up the Record. Youtube link will follow (at least i hope so)

I bet Bonkura could top that if he was still alive
Thats pretty amazing tho -
Date: Wed, Dec 26 2007 21:30:18
Was it normal or reverse? Because I just timed myself and I did 63 complete cycles of the reverse fingerpass in 1 minute. I had 2 drops though
-
Date: Wed, Dec 26 2007 21:48:04
its the normal fingerpass
gratz Le0n but Alucard wasnt bad too -
Date: Wed, Dec 26 2007 21:50:42
i believe it was a fingerpass normal
Edit: oops too late -
Date: Wed, Dec 26 2007 22:12:04
No disrespect, but 40 fp in 1 minute is slow. Especially for a world record.
edit: typos -
Date: Wed, Dec 26 2007 22:32:51
Go and beat it! =)
-
Date: Wed, Dec 26 2007 23:24:20
lol taichi, you could have asked me before posting this here ^^;
all i wanna say: I apologize for the crappy ammount of 40 Fingerpasses but you have to understand: It was really cold and the TV-Show just didnt want us to film inside.. so we were outside the whole time and its winter.. that would be 2 hours of cold hands before we started the record-attempt.
if thats hard to imagine just open your window and hold out your hand for 10 minutes. than try a Fingerpass. Now imagine the pressure youre under with the big audience and the TV-Cameras filming you from every angle and the fact that youre trying to set up a world record. I hope you understand that it was kinda hard to do a clean fingerpass in this situation.... Anyway. like its said, it was about presenting PenSpinning in Germany and i think we did a good job there :] Pls dont hate me for that fingerpass, just be happy that it's not hard to beat for the next one ;] (guess korea or Japan will do it with triple ammount of Fingerpasses )

Do it better with TV Cameras in front of you and don't forget how cold it is outside -

English subtitles would be helpful.
Pretty cool though. -
Date: Wed, Dec 26 2007 23:43:04
no one can beat bonkura..in fingerpass tricks..
-
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 00:32:11
i saw someone do a faster fingerpass than bonkura but i forgot who was it.
-
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 01:59:52
gratz on the world record though.
those little kids are wierd. -
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 03:14:08
how cold was when you're recording?
-
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 04:48:51
ya i bet it was really cold...
and i bet you could do so many more with a KT
good job tho...
i wish bonkura was on that show tho lol...thats kinda odd how they say its a world record but they just (im assuming)
picked you to guys to do it lol.
look how fast bonkura does it....its at 3:16 -
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 06:45:59
Damn TEK, someone should run the numbers and find out how many he would've gotten based on that speed. D:
-
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 10:43:45
Not accurate but I think it would be sth about 61-65
-
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 11:32:14
Haha dont worry, Le0n, you still did a good job
I am curious though...exactly how cold was it outside? I noticed when you guys were talking you couldn't see your breath from the cold so it couldnt have been that cold outside. Where i live people still wear shorts at -10ËšC, so when you say its cold im assuming you mean at least -20ËšC.
...and those little kids were talking infront of a fountain so that means it couldnt have been colder than 0ËšC. In which case it was still +ËšC which means i still would have been wearing sandals and a t-shirt outside lawl.
edit: did you see the look on that kids face @ 2:22? Alucard should have punched that kid in the face afterwards -
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 11:45:25
in germany were arent used to cold temperature ^^ and yeah im sorry for my fingerpas but i dropped the pen around 8 times xDDDD I wa sso under preasure that i was fuckin nervous but yeah the main thing was that we represent PS in germany and make it more popular
-
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 12:15:17
Hm... sorry le0n, for not asking you but I thought it would be alright because you posted the video on your public youtube account oO.
I'm uploading the subbed version right now by the way. -
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 13:24:30
In germany it's about -5°C. . .
-
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 13:34:50
Haha I just notice "you spin me round" by dead or alive is the background music at the beginning hahah
-
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 13:41:15QUOTEand i bet you could do so many more with a KT
well too bad we banned KT out of this Record we preferred using a MX, since its for PenSpinning-Promotion and its the most pen-lookalike-pen. So rules were set to: maximum length 19,5 cm, maximum weight 15 g. i think a normal mx is 18-18,5 cm and 13 g.
About the Winter:
As Alucard said we were not used to cold temperatures. it was lightly below 0 °C but that was before 3 weeks, thats early winter, when the temperatur quickly drops the body is not used to it and its even worse for the hands. Basicly now i would have never done it outside again they didnt even hav the force to make us spin outside. we could hav been like: "Oh ye? Well WE say we spin inside or the two kids hav to go" *pushing there heads under water* LoL.. well not really.. whatever, its over now and in the end it wasnt all so bad ;] it turned out to be what we wanted: a good promotion for PenSpinning in Germany. -
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 14:37:33
Haha, how awesome!
What would one have to do to get one of them Guiness World Record people to come and take a new record? It could be something for an upcomming gathering.... -

I can't see the fingerpass on their website though
edit - Ah, they have released records only upto September this year
Btw I decided to practice fingerpass lol.. today I started at 15 per minute -

DaThroat will beat that ! haha.. he probably can set the most amount of double fingerpasses in 30sec XD
anyways that video of bonkura doing fingerpass is slow.. there is an older one. which he does it faster.. because its a ballsign... -
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 19:24:14
Yeah, i can understand when winter first starts and your body isnt used to it. It's funny how the requirements just manage to block out the dr.KT by 0.5cm and 2grams . Anyway, 40 fp in the cold under pressure isn't too bad since i can only do 40 in the warmth of my house under no pressure :>

Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 21:34:33
After first day I am at 33 hehe
Gonna break the world record tomorrow, yeeha -
Date: Thu, Dec 27 2007 22:22:16
officially it can be broken after one year i think. Thx Taichi for translating the vid (but i come from Gifhorn lol)

I'm pretty sure the RSVP MX weighs more closer to 9-10g only. I weighed it during science class, using an electronic balance.
Anyway, can everybody please stop trying to discredit him for record. While the number may be low, it is still a record. Yes, you guys claim to be able to break it easily, but wait till you can personally attempt it in the studio. Let me just say, the environment is very different from normal practices. -
Date: Sat, Dec 29 2007 07:49:23
I don't really understand why they would'nt give you ideal environments to spin your best. After seeing how it was actually done with such bad conditions i really wonder how the "world records" are even records anymore. After seeing your comments, I am really beginning to doubt that the world records are even at their best. Spinning with cold hands really sucks and it takes off roughly about 50% of your proficiency for fingers, not to mention in front of a large crowd and with cameras all around you.
With proper environments, I think they would have done much better than they did in the video itself.
"Can you do it with fat fingers?"
Someone kill him -.- -

Another one on the interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk46SER1AA4
Out of curiosity, didn't NHK wrote a mail proposal few years ago to Guinness World Record for PS but was rejected? Why are they interested this time round? Also, is there a standard (such as x fingerpasses in 1min) to start with? -
Date: Sat, Dec 29 2007 14:46:01
The thing is, there is no classification for size of pen for this world record, so technically you can use a huge ass pen and do this and beast this.

Was NHK's not for Fingerless Thumbspin 1.5s in one minute (was it even ot Guiness World Record)? His proposal was also made when pen spinning was far less popular. There cannot be records for everything. I guess you must wait until something has some level of popularity. That said, there is a record for the most eggs held in one hand... -

There is.
19,5cm was the maximum lengh and 15g was maximum wight. so no kt or extreme big pens^^ -

oh nice. Imma rock that record.

Really nice job, Le0n! It's really hard not to succumb to tension at such moments. I thought Alucard/Kirbynator did more than 32, though... Weird. And those kids weren't cool. PS, UCPSB RSVP, yeah!
-
Date: Sun, Dec 30 2007 01:09:49
I already did 35 but with i think 6 drops. I dont know but when the first drop came i dropped it over and over again ^^.
@taichi: haha youre so funny with the lol,alucard thing -.- ! -

It is impossible to expect them to provide you with the "ideal" environment for people to break record. Even if such environments are given, it also doesn't necessarily means that you'll be able to do your best as well. -

i can do more than that
and i'm a noob
but until that day comes, congratulations le0n -

Way to go Le0n & Alucard.
I get nervous in front of just one person,
so that must've been really tough. -

did you guys get any money? and how did you get the World Record guy to come and film you officially?

That's actually the song Spinning Around by the Australian singer Kylie Minogue. -
Date: Wed, Jan 2 2008 22:02:49
wait. so if i get a video doing more than 40 fingerpasses in one minute without dropping or adjusting do i get the world record?
or do i need to get a whole fancy news setup? -
Date: Thu, Jan 3 2008 02:26:05
It needs to be verifiable. In other words, you'll need Guinness World Record officials in order to make sure that your "record" is real.

all i need to do is contact them then... -

Gratz on the record Leon. It takes alot of guts to stand infront of a big crowd and do that
-

Must have been tense, but wasn't that relatively slow? on Bonkura's video where he demonstrated fingerpass on both hands he did it way faster...
