UPSB v3
Presentation / Wristbands + Gloves?
Appealing or Annoying?
-
Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 19:05:33
I know Eriror spins with a wristband as well as some other spinners. i don't think anyone spins with gloves though except me (it really affects the spinning) and no, i don't mean gloves that cover all your fingers, i mean things like this
So if you post saying "lol nubl3t you c4nt spin wit da gl0ves cuz th3y c0vr j00r f1ng3rs" then i know you didn't read the entire post
But the main point, do gloves and wristbands appeal to you at all or is it just in the spinning part? DISCUSS! -
Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 19:34:41
Oh dear god no.
Thats my opinion, it blocks the hand, and its too... glammy. I think it would just take away from the spinning. -
Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 19:44:16
lol noob u cant spin with the gloves cuz they cover ur fingers
-
Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 20:21:04
Interesting, spinning with glove on.
To me, wearing nothing still the best. Appealing or annoying? It depends on how the person thinks... -
Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 22:01:19
Are they gloves or are they part of a long sleeve shirt? Either way i would think they might interfere with my spinning but everyone has their own preferences. There are lots of people who spin with long nails or have rings on when they spin and they do just fine so whatever you spin best with you might as keep doing it.
Wristbands shouldn't get in the way unless you're doing crazy stuff. I've always been under the assumption that wristbands were for aesthetic reasons. -
Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 22:09:42
well if you always spin with them on, i'm sure that you would get used to it so then it really wouldn't be a problem
and spinning with a certain wristband, or beign the only one spinnign with that kind of gloves on, imo gives a sense of...i dunno the word...(and i dunno if a word even exists for it)
but it gives the feeling that it's your..signature thing..? (i guess that's the best way that i can describe it)
like when eriror is spinning, and i don't know that it's eriror, and then i see the wristband, then i'd know instantly that it's eriror
if he takes his wristband off for a video and spins the same, i may not recognize that being him (or maybe i will )
and then if someone puts his wristband on, i may think that spinner is him...even if that person spins nothign like eriror and just good, in a different way
still can't think of the word though...personalization...maybe...
basically, i think that it defines one spinner from others and emphasizes them more out of a group more strongly, even if someone else may have better spinning (at least to me, since my eyes aren't that trained in penspinning yet ) -
Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 22:13:28
Closest thing to a glove or wristband that I spin with is a bracelet on my wrist that I haven't taken off in a few years
-
Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 22:46:12
spinning with gloves slows down the movement of the pen (well, at least for me)
i only wear a wristband only when i spin something that has a sharp end (dr. kt) to protect myself -
Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 22:46:56
I spin wiht my pds wristband and ive spun with gloves that cover the wholle hand......they get sweaty
-
Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 22:51:53

just wanna see how it looks -

you get used to it real easily. it doesn't really cause any interference to tricks -

Well, when watching a pen spinning video, the spinning is definitely the focus of the video.
I'm alright with gloves/wrist bands as long as they are not overly distracting. Just some plain colour(s) will do. -
Date: Wed, Jan 2 2008 03:45:44
yah, it definitley plays a role in defining you as a spinner that stands out above others because of the originality in clothing that you put into your spinning
although spinning is the main purpose of teh videos, the gloves (and other pieces of clothign:wristbands, bracelets, etc...) definitely will allow people to remember your videos longer than other videos that they may see
and although, there are the videos where the spinner is just much too amazing (bonkura ), then of course you'd always remember their tricks (i still remember the first time i saw his isonic), the pieces of clothign that a spinner may constantly use will definitely play a role in making people remember that video -

Agree on this, else its hard to focus on the pen when we are watching the videos... -
Date: Wed, Jan 2 2008 13:21:04
I prefer seeing just plain hands/arms, without gloves, wristbands or sleeves.
-
Date: Wed, Jan 2 2008 22:28:08
I find spinning with sleeves looks really good. Not so much wristbands, and gloves just don't work.
-
Date: Wed, Jan 2 2008 22:32:14
@Teddy: Those gloves are for girls man. XD
I can spin somewhat with actual gloves on... It's not too bad really.
Get a pair of cheap, thin, stretchy gloves (you know), and spin... I kinda like it. -
Date: Wed, Jan 2 2008 23:54:42
@ Rekkuuzzzzzzzan (or whatever) it's really easy with gloves and wristbands are even easier. but i like longsleeves too
@ Square (YOU'RE SQUARE!) - Yeah i kinda assumed that since they were in the girls section of hot topic, but i like them so much. -

can't really see the pen well(although its in white), and your fingers too.
The presentation will be sucky if you are wearing like that... -
Date: Fri, Jan 4 2008 10:44:12
I think writbands do look cool when you spin, if they don't distract or something like that. Like people, said, when I see someone like Eriror spinning, I could almost instantly recognize him because of his wristband... I might be able to recognize him without it, but it's something like a personal signature, that people could recognize you with it.
P.s Sorry for any spelling/grammer mistakes if any. -
Date: Fri, Jan 4 2008 16:11:57
Agree with you, its like a signature. But as long as its not disturbing my eye when watching the video, its fine to me...

Black gloves + black background = bad. It might've looked better with a contrasting background. -
Date: Sat, Jan 5 2008 07:26:31
i think the intent was to block out the hands so you just see the pen, yxtay.
-
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 03:56:44
If that is the case, you might as well spin a glow stick in the dark. It looks exactly the same, and you can't distinguish the tricks.
-
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 11:29:22
I don't know about you guys, but I like the see finger movement of pen spinning videos.
So, that glove spoils everything... -
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 13:08:21
For me,wearing wristbands when you spin makes you cooler.
Gloves are definitely a no-no for me,cause I can't spin a pen smoothly with my gloves on. -
Date: Mon, Jan 7 2008 03:46:21
uhhhh, wouldnt it affect the top spin unless its a really tight shirt? an if its a really tight shirt wouldnt it look stupid if u had it in the camera???
-

it doesn't really affect top spin because the pen spins more on the outer end of the hand past the knuckles. so it's fine -
Date: Tue, Jan 8 2008 16:12:02
your glove are covering a half of your hand so it would be difficult to make some tricks like palmspin or something like that but if it doesn't "block" (?) youre spin that doesn't matter this is not to ugly for our eyes
I personally have my own signature: a wirstband placed like skateboarder (here one of my vid' with it =>http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=XuQZysGCKhw
and it doesn't make us cooler FOR ME it just add something esthetic to look well that's only my opinion ^^ don't kick me x'D -

yeah it really only affects palmspikn tricks and tricks using the wrist -

well if your wearing a wristband, you can do a kind of isonic where you just stick the pen in the wristband but thats all i can think of.

Epic win.
I like seeing black wristbands or bracelets, but as for gloves?
I don't think so. I can't imagine it being that comfortable or easy to spin with. -
Date: Wed, Feb 13 2008 03:06:57
well, teddy's gloves don't reallly get in teh way that much and after spinnign with them for so long, i'm sure he's used to it
i should probably get a wristband or bracelet to wear, my hand is so boring xDD -
Date: Fri, May 15 2009 16:16:02
yeah i think spining with wristbands makes spinning look better but i dont think that will be the same with gloves,as it hinders ur spinning!
-

I'd say whatever an individual is happy with. It doesn't matter what other people think.
-
Date: Sun, May 17 2009 11:03:18
Seriously, why do you need the glove =/ Well ... This is Pen spinning not Yoyoing or something else
Wearing gloves isn't make you look more "pro", also its annoying alot , very ugly IMOQUOTE (Kari @ May 17 2009, 12:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I'd say whatever an individual is happy with. It doesn't matter what other people think.
I second this though =.=" -

I actually like wristbands. Adds a little more fashion to pen spinning. (Okay, not really.)
It just looks better to me than a blank wrist. Gloves would be annoying though. -
Date: Tue, Jun 9 2009 05:31:02
tried* i feel it effects my spinning alot.

Hmm yea i guess having a wristband can add a certain look to your spinning. and Iv never seen pen spinning with gloves before... linky?

Back to the point. They take away the enjoyment of psing that others doesn't look at the pen itself but at the gloves or wristbands or both (Yes I have done that ) and they look too glammy -
Date: Sun, Nov 1 2009 16:03:20
Maybe a glove spinning collab?
But anway, wristbands seems to be weird IMO.Gloves are intruding your spinning lots. You canot even spin if you use high difficulty tricks. -
Date: Sun, Nov 1 2009 17:17:11
I like wristbands. They act like watches.

Wristbands I think are actually pretty cool for pen spinning. They look pretty cool to me, while others may think they're just wannabes. I guess it really depends who's wearing it. If it's like a super nerdy kid or some fat ugly kid spinning while wearing a wristband, I'd definitely think they're a wannabe. If the person's actually decent-looking, I'll think it adds as a pretty nice feature. Gloves for pen spinning? Are you serious? The only reason I would think retard's would spin with a glove is because they want to look cool. As for the gloves that are fingerless, eh, I guess I'd think of them the same way as wristbands but definitely overdoing it.

so wristbands are only for good-looking people? wtf? also, how can you tell if they're ugly or nerdy from just their hand. -

Silicone wristbands look good when it's color-coordinated with the pen and don't really affect spinning. Those cloth ones like the PDS wristbands hinder your spinning, though.
